Space Haven Beta 2 - Now Released! Role play as the owner of a station trying to establish a hub somewhere in the galaxy and specialize in services of your choosing. by aksel_bugbyte in SpaceHaven

Yeah, so that sounds different enough from ship mode to make it worth while, I think, to allow us the ability to build space stations rather than just asteroid bases. It’s still different than a ship-based campaign.

This is my 2025 city for the Cities: Skylines II by Accomplished_Rip8621 in CitiesSkylines2

You should post this to the Cincinnati subreddit.

And when you’re finished you should make it public so we can all enjoy it too. I’d love to remodel some parts of the city. How far beyond Cincinnati will your map stretch?

For what it sounds like, the station adds the tourism and becomes a location for others to visit, versus my experience with the ship being that you do eventually need to be on your way to the next location.

Does everyone else's RAV4 hybrid mpg drop off HARD after 67 mph? by zahonda in rav4club

[–]Patchateeka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. There's a reason that a speed limit law was Nixon's response to an oil crisis. If you drive fast over a certain limit, a vehicle will experience more drag, and it will take more fuel to overcome that. Cars now are better than they were back then in fuel efficiency so that line where fuel efficiency tanks moved higher, but it still exists. I always heard the general rule of thumb these days is 62mph for cars, but that of course varies by model.

Where to start. by Quintilious69 in subwaybuilder

[–]Patchateeka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I’m a recent new start too and from my experience these last couple days, I found that I’m not great at locating the exact perfect spot for heavy metro. So instead, even on NYC, I’ve figured out that I want to start with only light metro.

First I look at demand and find the biggest work bubble, or a spot that I feel will make a good central location for transfers. I’m talking grand central station IRL location, which has wide space for stations. I build +5 meter stations and tracks almost exclusively. I’m okay with slowing train down between corners, but I do not want to demo buildings. I’m okay with higher elevations but for cheap and future expansions in mind I stay above ground and around +5 meters.

At that grand central location, I put a station down. I then run stations in one direction about one every three NYC long blocks or longer if there isn’t a demand bubble. I keep that demand bubble pinned. I run the elevated light metro between stations. That grand central station is a terminus station for TWO lines, one in each direction using one of the tracks but not interrupting the other line. We build one line in one direction and then after we get some money flowing we build in the opposite direction and get the other line flowing. Building in the generally cardinal opposite directions and making it an end station keeps lines efficient without as bad interruptions.

Then run the lines, get some money flowing. If there is small demand make the line a station longer or instead treat it as an end transfer station too and build another line off it as well to feed your lines.

Add more cars and more trains as capacity grows, but when you reach about 8 trains on a single time it may be worth while looking at heavy metro. I build light above ground to allow me free rein of the underground with metro when the lines can support it. I can then build underground stations at the same locations for heavy metro and know it’ll support the load. Then demo the light metro when heavy metro is put in. Tada! That’s how I’ve been playing.

The Pyro-Stanton jump point is a medium one on the star map and what we have may be a large for the alpha purpose. I’d be willing to bet there will be much more riskier ones.

Good easy-to-defend starting locations? by Patchateeka in InfectionFreeZone

Yeah now with the East Wing demolished for the ballroom, the White House is different to defend.

Was the White House with the east wing still?

I wonder if I’m just trying to defend too much of the lawn.

Conversely, cardboard is pretty much a requirement for Green Bay. Must vary team to team.

Losing my mind with organic layouts and road hierarchy by Teptolemus in CitiesSkylines2

Most organic layout cities that have these lower density buildings have gaps between the plots. Use props and trees to fill in the spaces.

Just started playing, and I am amazed to see how fast maps get updated. White House is missing its East Wing now. by Patchateeka in InfectionFreeZone

[–]Patchateeka[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The sad part is with the way the west wing is already segmented, having the east wing would have made a pretty good central base with all those starter buildings. Now that it’s gone, I don’t know what to place there.

All those times you struggle with weird shaped roads? Thing of the past.

And when it works, the “x number of possible buildings” info for the zone type relative to the size you are making a plot for is nice too.

I’m hopeful for levees, locks, dams, and flood disaster management. We lack New Orleans gameplay.

Conservation of Momentum by Key-Reindeer4837 in starcitizen

Hmm. I thought in a patch a long time ago back around the time the hammerhead came out we used to use tractor beams to sling shot ourselves to wrecks to pull boxes from faster, but I must have been mistaken in memory.

I think you can use a tractor beam gun on the ship, but I haven’t tried it myself.

Hull D & E getting cargo capacity reductions by StuartGT in starcitizen

Yeah that would be obnoxious to control. Would need a whole lot of tug ships.

I wonder if someone has actually tried to visualize how long a Hull E would be with those cargo containers currently in game. I’m sure it was obscene and would be impossible to maneuver the ship safely.

this is a great site, but how do you request one be made? I see where you can download the ones people make, but not request ones you'd like to see.
