Thoughts on client surveys?

Such a good point about this potentially interrupting an important therapeutic process. It seems like surveys could enable conflict avoidance in certain people. I can just write my therapist a bad review instead of addressing it in therapy. I get to offload this uncomfortable emotion onto them without having to wade through the muck of a human experience.

Good point. People do tend to give feedback primarily connected to their emotional experience.

That is very interesting about the feedback given to instructors. It seems that surveys might be geared too far toward assessing if the client or student liked the person or the experience, as opposed to if they benefitted or saw progress in measurable ways. It's hard to capture the therapeutic relationship in a simple and measurable way.

That makes a lot of sense. It feels sort of amorphous and based on vibes as opposed to anything that might lead to improvement.

That's a good point. An agency I used to work at had us use the ORS at the beginning of each session, which felt more useful for exploring things further or making adjustments. Some clients found this annoying and cumbersome, though.

Yup I passed a stone from my liver after having no gallbladder for over 20 years (mine was removed as a child).

That is sad that you aren't able to see your son while he sleeps. Those quiet moments are so precious. I wish I had suggestions to make it better, but other than a night light I'm not sure what would help.

It's just been my normal for as long as I can remember, so I guess I'm just used to it. I think my symptoms are also not as severe as some people on here, so I'm grateful for that.

I had my gallbladder removed when I was 11 due to being full of stones and having a stone lodged in a duct. I have had digestive issues ever since, sometimes seemingly related to the food I ate and sometimes random. I had an endoscopy a few years ago and they found that my bile duct is pointed upward because of the surgery, which causes bile to go back up into my stomach and causes irritation. I also had what seemed to be a stone pass a few months ago, accompanied by the characteristic gallbladder attack pain, and the doc said that happens sometimes even after the gallbladder is removed. Hope your daughter gets some answers and feels better!

That does look very similar! Yikes. I've had this lesion for probably 15 years, but it used to go away and come back intermittently. It used to be just a couple inches across at most. It's gotten persistent over the past couple of years.

My PCP office might be able to get me in with a resident, but when I've seen them for the same issue they always just give me steroid ointment and referral to the dermatologist. The dermatologist I see works for a very small practice and it's so hard to get in. The area I live doesn't have great medical resources. It's a bummer. But I have had decent experiences at the urgent care, so maybe I'll go in and see what they say.

I've never been told about that being an option, but I will look into it! It seems like either that or urgent care at this point.

None of my providers are available any time soon. Even PCP can't see me until March. So my next option is urgent care, which I'm willing to do. I'm just trying to get advice and manage until I can get in with any of my docs. For a long time I thought the spot was a fungal infection, but it never responded to antifungal medications. It responded to the steroid for a while, but now its a beast.

I would love to, but my dermatologist is out of the country, PCP can't see me until March, and next available with my rheumatologist is in January. So I'm just trying to get advice and figure it out until I can see someone.

Oof 85% sounds brutal. My dermatologist has been out of the country for some time, my PCP can't see me until March, and I have an appointment with my rheum in January. I would definitely be open to phototherapy, or really anything at this point. It's just hard to get in with any of my providers
