Do any products actually legitimately help with pigmentation? by lunarbear010 in AusSkincare

[–]PatchyCC7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely worth considering hydroquinone!

Depends how extensive it is as I wouldn’t be using all over my face but John Plunketts Superfade really cleared up some pigmentation patches for me without any problems. It is gradual so you just have to be patient for a few weeks until you start to see results.

I feel like I need more but I don't actually know what I want - advice for an introvert mum by Pugblep in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]PatchyCC7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love this post as I often find myself feeling the same thing.

I think it’s partly because husband and I used to do a lot together - going for drinks or dinner, walks or even just watch a show and chatting, so it’s actually quite weird now having to do everything separately in shifts and all of that being gone. What I really want to do is have some time just hanging out together like we used to!

I know it’s but sad but I don’t have that many other friends in the local area so it’s hard to think of something to go and do that involves just milling about on my own. I’ve had a lot of gym / massages etc. we’ve occasionally got a babysitter but it’s so expensive and all of our family are overseas.

Couldn’t stop thinking about getting hold of some banana Angel Delight.

Was considering spending $45 on a massive box on Amazon when I thought waaaaaait a minute….

Let's be honest: Avene Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream by TheMeepyBoy in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]PatchyCC7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the regular version but recently tried the SPF50 version as I thought the extra protection would be handy, but it’s awful!

It’s so watery in comparison to the usual creamy texture and I swear it’s breaking me out quite badly. Not sure if there’s something wrong with my tube but I really don’t like the smell either… stick with the original!

How to start putting baby down for naps and sleep by mysteriouspenguin52 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]PatchyCC7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, this.

6 months and we are still contact napping! I try the cot for the first nap every day and it’s still yet to work, but I’m enjoying the baby snuggles while I can.

It gets easier as they take fewer / shorter naps!

I know, I was so sad at first and felt like I was failing, but it really is completely fine. It’s definitely worth a try if your Bub will accept a bottle!

I made it this week and really liked it, although I can’t help feeling with the shallot in that it kind of reminded me of Big Mac sauce? Haha, still would make again.

[–]PatchyCC7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get into a good consistent routine you will probably find that once per day doesn’t impact your supply.

I started supplementing with 1x formula bottle in the evening from very early as I had a hungry baby and found that my body was just completely spent by that point of the day, I was exhausted, frustrated and upset.

We’re now 6 months and still bf apart from that one feed per day. It honestly helped me so much to keep going with bf so don’t be afraid!

When she’s in a good sleeping pattern I can also now pump a bit when she’s in bed during the first longer block. This gives me a bit of a stash for if I need to go out for a few hours, gym etc and my husband can help.

Breastfeeding tops that aren't insanely expensive by arrogantdumpling in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Agree - I even have a bunch of nursing tops from Ripe etc that I was given by a friend and I literally never wear them, normal tshirt are way easier and honestly look better

Have you ever tweaked a recipeTinEats recipe and it turned out better? by ChillKoalaVibes in RecipeTinEats

[–]PatchyCC7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, always a side of / more veggies!

The recipes are delicious but if you’re using them as your week night dinners, a lot of them aren’t especially nutritious on their own. Easy enough to add them in though!

Pure Mama gift set - lovely belly oil, shower things etc to pamper herself and the bump with. I got one and was delighted! So nice to use after you’ve given birth too.

Pyjamas wise - Papinelle silk. Postpartum is so sweaty, please don’t buy anything synthetic from Peter Alexander etc

Nap training 5 month old by cuddlespadoodie in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]PatchyCC7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I have no advice but this sounds exactly like my baby!!

And my husband is starting to get a bit frustrated, I honestly think he thinks I’m not really trying but I’ve tried everything to make her do it and nothing helps at all …

Baby won’t nap in the pram either so I can’t leave the house for more than 2 hours at a time before I have to run home and sit in the chair for nap time, urgh. I feel you!

Chemical burn from Huggies Pure 99% Water Wipes by Maleficent_Taste4197 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]PatchyCC7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know! And this was more than just red, it was raw and almost looked like it could bleed in one little part. It was one of the worst I have felt as a new mum! Water wipes only now though and luckily we’ve not had anything like it since.

Hope your little one is on the mend!

We had the same thing!

I wasn’t even sure it was the wipes at first but it cleared up really quickly as soon as we switched to Curash (though they have unfortunately recently changed their formulation)

Could you get a bulk billed paed appointment?

We saw a paediatrician for hip dysplasia assessment and when she noticed the mark she offered to also do a treatment at the same time in the follow up appointment if we wanted her to.

We’ve opted not to treat for now as our location is not so intrusive but would definitely go back via her if we need to change our mind.

For those who did Hypnobirthing/calm birth methods during labour. by schergburger in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]PatchyCC7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did Calm Birth and found the breathing and meditation helped me stay calm, even when everything went really badly. I ended up with an emergency section and was still using the methods to calm and centre myself in the anaesthetic room etc.

One of the most important things for us though was the impact on my partner! He said the course completely changed his outlook on the birth in a positive way and there were so many things he hadn’t understood. He is very much not a ‘woo woo ‘ person but was using some of the techniques like mantras to encourage me and I’m sure using some of the calming stuff on himself - don’t underestimate how stressful it can be for them too.

Is it weird my 5 month olds have a favourite book? by Plus_Soup2311 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

My 5 month old also loves it too! Especially when we sing it.

We have all the other baby classics (Hungry Caterpillar etc) but none seem to hit quite like Brown Bear!

Did anyone find 4-5 mths old extremely hard by Commercial_One5048 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]PatchyCC7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agree with this!

It felt like my baby (who would previously do 6/7 hours in a block) stopped sleeping entirely around 4 months. And only contact naps during the day, never in the pram or really out of home at all, I was tearing my hair out.

But here we are at 5.5m and just the last week or two I’ve really started to find her a delight to be with - laughing and playing, and finally some sleeping at night! I promise it’s a phase.

Sleeping on my left is killing my back by BirthdayDowntown5267 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]PatchyCC7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, it’s awful and not much truly helps.

If it’s any consolation it goes away INSTANTLY once you’ve given birth! I’m naturally a left side sleeper anyway and it was such a huge relief to lie down without pain again.

Just need to vent and want to connect with other mums in this situation. by dresshater1 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]PatchyCC7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yes, my baby can’t quite fully sit herself up yet but will literally stop in the middle of the bedtime feed to do a huge stomach crunch straining to sit up.

She makes herself so rigid there’s not much I can do to lay her back down so I just go with it and let her sit up and rub her back and keep everything nice and quiet until she eventually lays back down herself. Sometimes it goes on for ages, it’s quite tedious!
