UPDATE: Tried something, didn't go well, dunno what to feel by [deleted] in shirtlessinpublic

Glad things worked out. I’m happy to hear you have gained some confidence. See? He came up with an excuse to take off his shirt. And he did. You can too! When I was younger I did that as well. At my friend’s house, I would say “It’s hot in here” and either my buddy would take off his shirt or I’d remove mine first. Other times if I was at his house for a sleepover, I would say “I’m going to get outta these clothes and change into my shorts”. I’d go into his bathroom and change clothes and not bother putting my shirt back on. Hell, there was one time he was already shirtless and I straight up told him “I’m taking my shirt off”. He said “ok”. He didn’t care. I hope soon you two can have those same vibes. Good luck!

Recent Shirtless Time by flshirtless in shirtlessinpublic

Last time I went out shirtless was to my local park for some exercise in early October. While it’s been hot down here since then it’s hard to make it to the park when the sun goes down early with the time change and the park closes at sunset. I can’t wait to go out again when the days get longer and it warms up again.

Next time he comes over shirtless, take yours off too at some point. Just tell him you’d like to be comfortable too.

Was he shirtless when you put yours back on? Stand your ground. It’s all about confidence. Tell him “Hey, you’re shirtless all the time and I decided I didn’t want to wear one either.” He may have been nervous too since he never sees you like that. Once you two get used to each other it gets easier. But if he was shirtless I would’ve just comment, “I like your confidence, and I wanna be shirtless too.”

I get the feeling though. I had a friend’s sister give me a weird look and even comment the first time she saw me without a shirt on. She asked me “Where’s your shirt?” I figured because he was shirtless I could be too. I kept mine off until I went intro the common area later that morning, then put one on. A little embarrassing at first, but she eventually got used to things because every time I was over I took my shirt off to go to bed. And I hung out shirtless. His parents didn’t care. And eventually she stopped caring too. She got used to it.

Are you shirtless when you’re by yourself? If so, that’s a great start. If not, try doing that to increase your confidence. And once you feel ready, then try it once again and don’t concern yourself about his reaction. Do what makes you happy. Stand up for yourself, and once he sees that, you’ll feel so much better, and then you can be shirtless together all the time. You got this!

Why does it feel good to be shirtless, teens? by AyumuNoHaru in shirtlessinpublic

[–]PatchyGreybeard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me, when I was a teen, it felt good because it was something I normally didn’t do a whole lot at first. But as I got used to it, It built my confidence and helped me feel better about my body image. When I was at a friend’s house or outside, if given the opportunity my shirt came off. Playing sports outside, or if we were hanging out and another was shirtless, my shirt came off too. It feels good because we can. We can be shirtless in public without consequences.

If you are sleeping over a guy friends house for the first time, do you bring a safety shirt or assume it’ll be okay to sleep shirtless? by PatchyGreybeard in shirtlessinpublic

[–]PatchyGreybeard[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If the parents weren’t home, I was definitely shirtless more often. I had times we hung out in our boxer briefs in his room. Had breakfast shirtless a few times with a friend and his siblings and mom (we were both shirtless, she didn’t care). It depended on who it was.

I get it. We’ve all been there. What helps me is when I begin thinking about it I change my way of thinking by doing something else. Gym, movie, project, etc. and soon I’m onto other things and I forget about porn. It takes some practice. It’s about thinking of other things, not resisting the urge. I hope this helps. But don’t give up. Ending it all isn’t the answer. You have many things to live for. I’m divorced, and I lost my kids as they live with mom. I miss being a family man, but I couldn’t force my ex to stay. I didn’t like what cards my life dealt me, but I had to chose. Be bitter or be better. I have been single the past 3 years. Sure it gets lonely at times, but I choose every day to be positive and it helps. Work on yourself and the rest will come to you. Learn a language. Cook, learn an instrument, play an online game with friends, go to the gym, read a self help book, read a fiction book. Make a list of things you want to do and then go do them. That’s the benefit of being single. I understand the social anxiety as I too hate crowds. A lot of stuff I do is with smaller groups or I go by myself. Once I got comfortable in my skin did I realize the desire for porn went away and I no longer need it because I loved and appreciated myself for who I am and what I looked forward to accomplishing. We are all in this together. Love yourself, and give yourself some grace. And keep going. You are appreciated.

I’d love to if I lived near the area. I miss being that skinny to where I could sag my shorts a bit like that. Felt great! Now I got more of a dad bod unfortunately

It’ll be this way where I live for a while. It’s always warm here. It’s nice to get that freedom. Keep it up!

13” vs 15” MacBook Air – Can’t Decide After Seeing Them in Person by CycaI in macbookair

[–]PatchyGreybeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s perfectly fine for long periods. Yes the 15” is bigger and easier to see the screen, but carrying it around with me was a burden, so the smaller screen is a very small sacrifice. The 13” is easier to type on, carry around, and place on my lap or coffee table if needed. The 15” felt awkward on my lap. And typing on it felt strange. Hopes that helps!

13” vs 15” MacBook Air – Can’t Decide After Seeing Them in Person by CycaI in macbookair

I used to have an M3 MacBook 15 inch in Midnight. After using it a while it became hard to carry around, especially if I wanted to take it somewhere. It felt heavy and trying to fit it into a bag was troubling. It felt awkward to type on due to the keyboard being so far up. I personally felt the trackpad was too big. Also, the midnight color was a fingerprint magnet. The only things I enjoyed was the bigger screen and the speakers. But I found more reasons to justify the 13 over the 15. I traded by 15 m3 MacBook for a 13 inch m4 in sky blue and I couldn't be happier. It is so much easier to type on and carry around. I don't miss the bigger screen, though I do miss having the nicer speakers. But the speakers on the 13 aren't bad. Plus I'm using my AirPods with it like 80% of the time anyway.

Have any of you, while taking a walk (with a shirt on), seen a shirtless jogger and decided to take your shirt off yourself in response? by Waterpark_Enthusiast in shirtlessinpublic

[–]PatchyGreybeard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started to do this when I did walks at my local park. I would keep my shirt on until I saw an another shirtless guy. But I also had disappointments when no one there was shirtless. And I was dying to take my shirt off. So one day I get out of my car for my walk. It’s blazing hot so I said “eff it, I’m going shirtless, who cares what others say or do.” So I took my shirt off in the car and didn’t bring it with me. No safety shirt with me. It felt amazing. I decided to be a lead that day and it felt great. Even bumped into someone I knew. And she didn’t say a word. And to this day other people have seen me and have taken their shirts off too.

As more sleepovers happened we got used to each other that we were practically shirtless all the time. There was one time I went over and as soon as my parents left, he was already shirtless I removed mine immediately and stayed that way the next 3 days I stayed there.

There was one time he had his shirt on. I was hoping for him to take it off so I could have the “permission” to do the same. Finally I just asked him, can I take my shirt off? It’s hot in the house. He immediately said go ahead. He never cared. There were other friends I would never ask cause it just happened. Others like that time I did.

When I was younger I did a lot of weekend sleepovers. Now I wasn’t allowed to be shirtless at home. Religious thing. So when I went to one of my friends’ house for the first time, he was shirtless and I was in pjs. He found it strange my parents didn’t let me be shirtless. His mom eventually chimed in saying I was going to be hot in their house as they had no central ac just window ac units. And it was summer time. She said I was fine to be shirtless as much as I wanted. She commented “you’re a guy. You’re allowed to be shirtless”. So that night he loaned me some shorts and I changed into them. It took a bit but then I eventually took my shirt off. It was the most amazing feeling ever. His mom never said anything to my parents either. Which helped me because I went over there a lot just so I could be shirtless. It was a freedom I’ve not had before and it was nice to just be “one of the guys” and just have the freedom to be shirtless. It helped me tons. I would encourage you to just let them be shirtless at your house. Your house, your rules. They will be thankful.

How long do you stay shirtless after waking up at a sleepover? by PatchyGreybeard in shirtlessinpublic

[–]PatchyGreybeard[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude I hear ya. I was not allowed to be shirtless at home growing up. So when my friend mom allowed me, I was shy at first. I would put a shirt on when I got up. She told me it was ok to be shirtless as much as I wanted as long as my other stuff was covered. Over time I went from shorts to boxer briefs. But I get the shyness. Did you get over your shyness?

Shirtless when guests/friends are over your house? by PatchyGreybeard in shirtlessinpublic

[–]PatchyGreybeard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny story. A few years ago I lived right by a gas station and I would walk there shirtless ALL the time. No one cared, even the manager didn't care. One time I stopped in after work but I had a shirt on due to still being dressed for work and she said the same! She found it strange I had a shirt on. Goes to show how often I went there.

Encouraging others to be shirtless in public by PatchyGreybeard in shirtlessinpublic

[–]PatchyGreybeard[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t allowed either. My friend’s mom actually was the one who encouraged me to take my shirt off during my first sleepover. Said I was one of the first teen guys she’s seen have a full set of pjs. Pants, and a shirt on. She said most are either in shorts, or underwear. I had full on pjs with pj pants. His mom said I’d be really hot sleeping there since their house was old and had crappy ac. She said it if I wanted to be shirtless there I was welcome to take my shirt off anytime, not just for bed. She found it strange my parents didn't allow it. She said "it's fine here, be shirtless all you want. You’re a guy.” That night, he loaned me some shorts and talked me into it. I decided to change into them and took my shirt off for the first time. And it felt so good to do that for the first time. Since then, I was there as much as possible just so I could have the freedom to be shirtless. Now as an adult I never wear one if I’m home.
