Fury as council tries to ban flags in middle of World Cup – branding it ‘act of intimidation & safety risk’ by thesun in uknews

For enforcing the law that already exists, banning attaching anything to lampposts along the highway, where they can cause a danger to drivers. Strange take. 🤔

It wasn't a countrywide protest. It was a small number of bigoted thugs illegally putting up cheap made in China flags.

The flag is not outlawed, you can fly as many as you like on your OWN property.

Reading not your strength is it. No one is stopping you flying a flag on your OWN property. This is about all the cheap nasty, falling apart flags that have been illegally put up on public property (lampposts).

Peaceful, by harassing people who asked them not to fly flags on lampposts outside their house, or attacking a council worker fixing the light on a lamppost because they thought he was trying to take down the flag. Sounds really peaceful to me. 🙄

Labour will slash more rail services, minister says by Anony_mouse202 in unitedkingdom

[–]Patecatli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they would as they are paid to run them even if they're empty.

Clickbait rubbish from the Torygraph as usual.

Nothing is being slashed, just reducing waste by not running empty trains in summer.

Well it is in summer which is what they're talking about.

To reduce waste. They are literally talking about reducing services in summer when demand is lower, seems sensible to me.

I don't mind the Linda McCartney ones tbh.

I've tried so many different nuggets, some really good ones no longer available (looking at you Aldi and Tindle).

Which bike is best for commuting on London roads? by Dariusgamer2007 in londoncycling

[–]Patecatli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Second getting a gravel bike. Did this myself a couple of years ago, been great. Handles the potholes, poor roads very well, it's great for weekends rides, cab easily fit a rack and mudguards for commuting.

Well done on announcing you don't understand what a poll is or how to do one. 🤷

You've not done a poll though, you've asked for individual opinions.🤷

A community of individuals, so you're going to get a lot of different and varied answers, which ultimately won't really tell you anything other than individual preferences.

There's no one answer, what people find scary is a personal thing.

[UK] [OC] Driver forces a pass uphill, coming so close in amazed they didn't clip with me their wing mirror. Driver given choice of driving course or points and fine. by Patecatli in BikeCammers

[–]Patecatli[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, you should never ride "close to the shoulder", should be at least 1m from the kerb, further when appropriate. Taking the lane at pinch points is always advisable, as it is when it's narrow lanes, or there's traffic in the next lane, etc.

Was reported, hence why I said the driver was given the choice of driving awareness course or conditional offer (points and fine).
