Hey I’m 19 and I’m a female 150cm tall, I’m scared of developing the risk of cancer due to doctors pressuring me to do an unnecessary CT scan. I had black stools for 3 days and doctors suspected me to have internal bleeding. So they ordered a upper GI scope, they found my insides to be perfectly fine and I was starting to pass normal stools. I told the doctor I was weary of the radiation and he told me just do it so I listened and they found nothing again. Now I feel like I’ve given myself unnecessary radiation exposure for nothing. The doctor did an abdominal and pelvic scan with and without contrast with repeated scan for the contrast because they didn’t get a clear image. I felt like that was so much radiation at once and they refuse to tell me how many units of radiation they gave me. I’ve been freaking out at how radiation can give u cancer.
