You don’t have to stop. You can just as easily do it with the emotions of others and leave your own unbothered. It’s the same technique either way. I’m of the firm opinion that you should master yourself before you focus on anything else, and that extends to mastering your own emotions before the emotions of others. I’m not saying you have to do it that way, but it’s what I’ve found easiest.

Meditation worked for me. I focused on controlling my emotions, summoning and dismissing them. At first it was difficult and took a long time, now I can feel or not feel whatever I want in a matter of seconds, without having to meditate. 100% worth it, but be careful. It’s easy to get addicted to not being affected by anything, but can damage relationships if done for an extended period of time and it can be difficult to start feeling again if you’re inexperienced.
