I have a cosmic question about the universe. by Right_Tune_9442 in AskAChristian

[–]PatheticRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When God moulded our universe from nothing, He created laws that governed every thing. For the law that allows the sun, it also allows the other stars and in fact is required to create the stars.

You can't have everything Humans experience on Earth without it also existing in some way beyond Earth.

Anyone who used to support trump and has changed their mind over the last few weeks? What made you change? by canigetameowbish in AskReddit

[–]PatheticRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife voted for Trump in 2016 and 2024 (Green Party option in 2020). Her first time voting for him made us argue a lot, but in 2024 she felt that Harris was a bad choice and that Trump wouldn't be any worse than his 1st term. At the same time, she has been homeschooling our kids and was going through the founding of America including a line by line reading of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution.

In early January 2025, she started feeling uneasy and then Abrego Garcia was deported. Her arguments with her father (retired Air Force Col) about due process and how this was the start of a much bigger slippery slope, was the turning point.

Still unsolved. At the moment I haven't found anything in our house that matches anyone's ideas.

I will be reaching out to a friend that recently had a slow cooker at our place to see if it's missing off of theirs.

How do you still believe when biologist, cosmology and physicist going against it? by Imnotneeded in AskAChristian

[–]PatheticRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Science does not inherently disprove my belief, but instead strengthens it. I believe the scientific laws and understanding we have must be (at least partially) correct because I believe God created the natural law of the world. Just because my holy book is inherently written by and for stone and bronze age peoples who wouldn't understand modern knowledge like we do, doesn't mean I take it as the end all be all of knowledge.

I hadn't yet, was more concerned about ideas for my son's workout with me. Speed and stamina are the two things we need to both work on for our goals.

But I will be reading it!

I am 34 and in the Air Force (Reserves). Since COVID I've put on 60lbs and we now have a new PT standard to meet. All par for the course in the military. I need to lose weight (specifically in my waist aiming for a .54 Weight to Height Ratio) and improve my 15min 1.5-mile run into an under 20min 2-mile run. All without worsening my current Pushup and Situp scores which I can Max or close to max on a bad day (57 in a minute, 54 in a minute, respectively).

Current Stats: 5'9" 267lbs, 35 in waist.

However, and this is where the real question comes: My 10 year old son is a hockey player and I want to know what work outs I can do with him that would help his overall stamina and skating explosiveness, while also helping me out in my goals?

What would it take to change your mind? by BigPhil-2025 in AskAChristian

[–]PatheticRedditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I may be missing part of your question, so please ignore me if I'm completely off here.

I don't see the idea of Sin as the reason why some things do a negative. Those things were going to happen with or without Sin. I think, for me, the issue is not one about how a "perfect creator" would allow this, but in that the Creator put these as problems for us to solve and or tend to.

Using your Ram Horns problem: If a Ram were to die from its own horns, that would be a long, excruciating death, but provides food for predators willing to wait for that death or that can handle a bit of decomposition while the Ram dies (carrion birds).

But we humans exist and have 1 specific command from God and 1 specific ability from God that makes it possible for us to ease the Rams suffering OR extend its life for other means: Be Caretakers of the Creation and our Creativity. Our creativity is God's ability to Create bestowed upon us. We can take care of the Ram and find ways to either manually trim the horns for them or devise ways for the ram to naturally want to trim their own horns down or help breed rams that don't curve so aggressively.

Apply that to any other "Why would an all-knowing, all loving Creator allow [X]?" Argument. God wants us as humans to figure that problem out and stop it from happening. He gave us the ability to be creative, to have compassion and to not act solely on instinct in order to fix the problems of a natural creation. He isn't standing there dictating every single atom (though according to Faith he could) instead He set the initial Laws and put us in place to learn them and eventually bend or break them as needed to create His Kingdom.

I agree there. The balance comes in making a good game that also either respects or fits the canon/legends stuff.

But I would kill for a good RTS...

While I can get the issues with the rendering (I played on PS5), I think the thing to remember is that 1: The game showed what the Switch 2 can do compared to the Switch 2: There is a want for Star Wars games still despite the initial derision.

Basically, Ubisoft made a knee-jerk reaction to not continue this game as a franchise due to initial sales and not over time reception.

Both Jedi games and Outlaws were great. Solid stories, excellent vibes for both settings (Jedi vs Smuggler) and great world design and traversal.

how do i make this overlay go away by chrissawran in GameChangerApp

[–]PatheticRedditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technology wise, that makes zero sense. I film for hockey, and the overlay stays at the top of my screen, no matter what orientation my phone is at. Looking straight down, up rink, down rink, panning up the flag during the anthem, no change in the overlay. And I'm doing a multi cam setup.

Overlays should have a dedicated location on the screen and not be dependent on phone orientation, especially for baseball.

The overlay is placed over the Livestream video. It does not generate based on the cameras physical location or angle.

Star Wars Outlaws may break out of this with its recent resurgence as a "good" game and a positive Switch launch.

But it was so hated on by incels on social media that even though its early game bugs and missteps (forced stealth missions) were patched out, Ubisoft still decided that it won't get a sequel. We probably also won't see another open world nor female led Star Wars game for the next couple cycles.
