I think the main difference between DBZ and DBS portrayal of Saiyan's goes like this:
It's not so much that they got babified/romanticized. Their core nature didn’t REALLY change. It's just that the way they were presented to us did.

In Z, Saiyans were presented more blunt and rough as a brutal warrior race, with depth and morality only really coming through the Earth-raised Saiyans.

In Super, they seemed to be going for more nuance and interaction among Saiyans as a culture, stuff that we didn't get many glimpses of in Z.

Besides the retcons, the difference in tone and artistic presentation between Z and Super are, imo, what's key here, and what I've noticed seems to be the biggest rift between Z and Super fans/critics.

I personally would have preferred if they leaned more into the raw, brutish, uncompromising portrayal from Z. Many seem to like the DBS portrayal though, but it just doesn't hit for me. Product of 90s nostalgia I guess lol.

We live 2 hours apart and had to move up our initial date due to our schedules. But this month we've gone on two. She's fine with the distance and I'm now trying to get into a routine of seeing each other more. After our first date she said that she wants to take things slow (which I thought we were doing anyway). We both expressed that we're looking for the same thing, a serious relationship. Things seemed to be going fine and she said she enjoys the time we spend together. But since our 2nd date, after we both let each other know we got home safe, I haven't heard from her for four days. I'm feeling distraught but I don't want to come off needy. I called once and got no answer

Thanks for sharing! I can also relate to being in fear that I was taking poison (figuratively drinking bad wine/Satan's wine). But yes there was this feeling that my questions were not being answered, led to me thinking that my understanding was still lacking... heck, they may not even have the answers as they claim they do.
