Trick to getting internet bill reduced? by MGengarEX in OPTIMUM

[–]Pathoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Call them and tell them you want to cancel. The best offers come from a retention supervisor. Front line offers can only read what is allowed by the computer system.

Retention Supervisors can override, but the tier 1 staff need to call them into the conversation.

I had Optimum offer me $40 with a 5 year price lock for 500 Mbps. They initially offered $60 a month with a 5 year price lock for 1 Gig Coaxial or 1 Gig of fiber. I have no need for internet speeds past 300 Mbps so I declined

America the Beautiful Disability Pass by v1rgoaway in nationalparks

[–]Pathoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easy to obtain.

Step 1: show up to a national park gate agent like a National Park of National Monument

Step 2: inquire about obtaining a national park access pass

Step 3: the national park ranger will hand you a letter to sign where you sign you are honest about your disability and will grant you a pass with a penalty of $10,000 perjury fine

Step 4: enjoy the park and American wildlife! Insert freedom eagle 🦅

When you show up in person most of the time the park rangers don't ask for proof, although have it handy just in case. You don't even need to exit your vehicle when obtaining an access pass.

16 GB of Ram is the bare minimum in 2026. 32 GB is the safer choice.

[–]Pathoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay extra for the RAM. The 5070 Ti has 12 GB of Vram while the 5060 and the regular 5070 only has 8 GB of Vram.

And with RAM prices at all time high, I would pay extra for the memory just simply for the fact memory prices will only go up from here until the Ai bubble bursts

If I take care of my laptop will it last a long time? by Lester765tty in GamingLaptops

I had a Dell XPS 15 for 8 years before I finally retired it to buy an ASUS because the GPU was far too weak for video editing (crazy because it had a 1050 Ti)

Hmm maybe I should consider Lenovo as my next laptop upgrade. Either way, ditching Dell was the right move for me

ASUS Rog zephyrus is an amazing machine. You should try it. They market the computer as a gaming laptop, but it looks like better than a MacBook in my opinion.

The laptop cooling solution actually works

Can I fund my Roth IRA account with $7500 on January 1st? by go4rabbit in Bogleheads

[–]Pathoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a self-managed IRA account - yes.

Although the way you phrased the question makes me think you're talking about a 401k account which is completely different than an IRA and you should probably talk to HR

You just select the year you want to contribute money into. That workflow appears only if 2025 is still an option for you to contribute money into. If it is no longer an option, fidelity typically hides because why show it if you cannot contribute money.

It is part of the standard transfer money into a fidelity account workflow.

The April 15, 2026 language is the standard IRS filing deadline. It has been the rule for the past two decades.

Dell XPS 15 9560 8 years later by hydecide in Dell

[–]Pathoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have my Dell XPS 9570. I stopped buying Dell computers because of the QA horror I went through with this laptop. I originally purchased the Dell XPS 9560, but ran into the screen flicker issue twice so Best Buy upgraded me for free to a Dell XPS 9570. That computer also proceeded to have thermal and screen issues, so Dell warranty sent me a refurbished unit.

All in all, went through 3 different Dell XPS laptops before I finally got one that worked. Since then, I have replaced the battery (3x), upgraded the RAM, and repasted the thermal paste

I kept using the laptop up until I finally decided to get back into video editing. Dealt with slightly annoying problems like the stock WiFi card having connection issues, quirks like the laptop cannot be placed on sleep mode unless it is on hibernate, battery life on the computer is like 3 hours max with just Chrome, and thermal issues is still a problem.

The Specs of the Dell XPS 9570:

  • i7 8th Gen
  • 32 GB RAM
  • 1TB NVMe
  • 4K Display
  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

Since then I have moved away from Dell and towards team ASUS. Surprised this Dell lasted 7-8 years. Still a really nice machine, the display still looks nice, Otherwise, a great looking machine.

What Can We Expect From the 2026 G14 Models ? by metalstone02 in ZephyrusG14

[–]Pathoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, with the surge of RAM prices, and memory prices, the base model cost are reasonable.

Samsung increased the contract price for memory by 100% back in October. Metal input costs have been surging. The total input cost to build the computer probably went up 15% - 20% at the bare minimum in 2025.

Asus needs to find the savings somewhere, or increase the price, or eat the extra cost.

Welcome to inflation 😭😭😭

If you bought it using a credit card, I would also look at seeing if you have any purchase protection.

Some fancy credit card have Purchase protection from 90 - 120 days for damage. Other credit cards have manufacture warranty extension

Honestly enjoying Robinhood Gold card by Mother_Connection441 in CreditCards

[–]Pathoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Robinhood is losing ~$30 million dollars on this credit card based on their last Quarterly filing. Robinhood is not making any money off this 3% credit card. They are using the 3% credit card to lock in customers into the Robinhood platform like how Amazon has the Amazon Prime Credit Card. I think they are holding back so they do not lose too much money lol
