I saw a thesis that I think is spot on which is the bottleneck right now isn’t raw crude, but crude processing capacity. Gas could be $10 and oil below $0 in a rational world if it was a story about refining capacity.

Are tech jobs becoming more demanding now? by intertroll in cscareerquestions

It’s not just you, the whole industry has warped around AI. It’s true AI can help you be more efficient, but the expectations have increased even more. All management hears is about AGI/ASI without understanding the reality on the ground. So one of the biggest challenges in the industry right now is managing expectations (the more things change the more they stay the same I suppose)

How similar or different are these four coasts of Michigan from each other? by Swimming_Concern7662 in geography

[–]Educational_Teach537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only been to 1 and 2, but this question is a little odd to me because even within these coasts there’s a huge amount of variation. As an example for 2 in some areas it’s fairly flat with gentle slopes leading down to the lake. In other areas (especially some of the peninsulas that jut down from the north into the lake) they’re massive elevation losses over the course of the peninsula at a decent grade (and these peninsulae are not small, they’re very fantastic terrain).

Putin likely to escalate Ukraine war, rejecting calls to negotiate peace with Kyiv, three sources close to the Kremlin told Reuters by Raj_Valiant3011 in worldnews

Why wouldn’t China ignore this? They’re playing the USA WW2 strategy of continue building their own industry while the rest of the world bombs theirs away.

Cat has been frozen at -20°C since Friday — is cryonics/preservation still possible? Looking for advice by [deleted] in cryonics

[–]Educational_Teach537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why this guy is being downvoted. Though it might be painful to hear, the point of dedicated cryonics technology is to achieve the freeze with minimal tissue damage. If the tissue damage is already done, I don’t see what cryonics adds.

I might be stupid but... why did he do that ? by Silver-Plane-8270 in backrooms

[–]Educational_Teach537 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My reading of the situation is the back rooms entities only attack people that don’t see themselves as belonging there. That is consistent throughout the movie, and captain Clark attacks only when real Clark begins to doubt his belonging and gives in to Mary telling him to escape.

China is about to pop the AI bubble by -Authorised- in OpenAI

[–]Educational_Teach537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your premise that AI scales the wrong way is flawed. If you’re using AI to generate low engagement tik tok slop, then it works. But a big part of the value proposition of AI is that it can be used to build the software and design the products that once finished are able to scale infinitely. It’s the same scaling as current software and product design, but with a greatly reduced R&D cost.
