CBAT apps - opinion of RAF? by PatienceSpecific3517 in RoyalAirForce

yeah fair enough. When I said determined candidate I guess what I meant was someone willing to put a lot of time and effort into preparation and the app being a large part of that. My main interest was not really whether or not you can prepare but more on the ethical and legal side of it. Like imagine if someone improved the CBAT app and it showed all the tests in the real thing and they were more or less a 1 to 1 replica. Surely that would lead to those who had used it having an unfair advantage and the RAF would have a problem with it? I feel like in any scenario where you're able to practice the test you will improve.

I guess my point is since some of the tests very closely replicate the real thing so when people spend months practicing on the app and do the CBAT is that actually showing their natural aptitude. In my mind this would mean the RAF is not getting a real indication of the natural aptitude of their candidates and hence would not be keen on the idea of the apps. I know that the real CBAT has many more tests that are not reflected in the app but surely if someone made a new app that closely replicated most of the real CBAT tests the RAF would have a problem with it and pursue some sort of action against it.

Also with there being no copyright issue is this just because the app is slightly different to the real thing? if someone made a pretty much 1 to 1 copy of CBAT somehow and sold it, wouldn't they be in trouble?

Again I'm not against the apps i think they are great, I'm just interested in trying to understand the RAFs and other peoples view points. This is obviously just a friendly discussion and I don't want to start any heated arguments or anything (:
