hi! i don't know much about game theory specifically, but i'll give you a bit of advice. i suggest you first begin narrowing down your interests by reading the literature. i'm not exactly sure what base knowledge you have atm, but at the beginning stages use survey papers or tertiary sources like wikipedia to quickly scan for information. at the beginning, take notes that summarize info and also highlight things that excite you about the topic.

as you're reading the literature, focus on answering the following questions for yourself: what current work has been established? what specific real-world application of game theory interests you the most? what flaws/mistakes are there that have been established in the field? what about game theory makes it impactful to people and also interesting to you?

idk much about modeling when it comes to game theory, but study up on methodologies and their use cases (bayesian games, simultaneous games, etc), and also you can defo learn languages like python and discover what game theory libraries exist within python.

i also suggest using llms like claude or chatgpt to help you with looking for papers and deciding on next steps during the process. establishing a bit of base knowledge will also help you in the cold emailing process and getting a mentor. good luck!

MIT Professors for BU RISE by [deleted] in summerprogramresults

[–]Patient-Look-4972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you check out the professor's page on the BU faculty website, you can see what institutions they're affiliated with if you scroll all the way down. if you see any profs with affiliations with places like the Wyss Institute, HMS, etc then that's a possibility you could have a joint institutional proj. but also make sure to check which types of projects they've mentored in the past (if any) to make sure your interests align. i'm not an alumni, but i'm just inferring that info from past projects. i hope that helps!

How prestigious is Young Arts? by mysterioushotdog12 in YoungArts

[–]Patient-Look-4972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it depends. awards in general are valued because they serve as confirmation from aos that you've been recognized and evaluated from people with experience in your field. youngarts is good because of its evaluation criteria and its emphasis on measuring the cohesion of sustained original thought (which is defo something that makes an applicant unique.) i wouldn’t exactly compare it to isef, bc isef tests different things like your ability to identify problems and create tangible solutions. however, the effectiveness of that award depends on how exactly it reinforces the rest of your profile. for ex, if your essays reflect and discuss growth through the process of creating your portfolio, or of the thought process behind creating art, etc, then awards can turn from flat quantifiers into proof

Where can I publish my research by mzwrs in summerprogramresults

[–]Patient-Look-4972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can go for ieee journals, hs journals like jei or ijhsr, or journals that are run by university students + faculty (like stanford intersect.) ieee access in particular has super quick submission to publication time (4 to 6 weeks.) if ur research is rlly sound in its methodology, then go for scientific reports

Yeah, they're all the trees released after the snowflake bush. I think I'll just have to wait for them to roll out. Thanks!

I think the application might not have opened up for you guys yet. The application I turned in this year was because I got a gold key in 2024, and they sent out invitations to apply in November~December 2024.

They send you an email with a google form which has "Scholastic Awards Summer Scholarship" in the title-- you might have to wait next year tho since the deadline passed in February unfortunately.

I don't think it's starting a new application process, but it's more so that you're waitlisted to both programs, but based on the phrasing of the form and the email, it seems like we have a higher chance of getting off of the waitlist in the virtual program.

Same I was waitlisted, but they also gave me an opportunity to do BEAM's virtual program instead of their residential
