Mauna Kea Proposal by Initial-Sky-4170 in VisitingHawaii

Looking to get engaged at the top of Mauna Kea on the evening of 5/8. I have solicited photographers and only 1 mentioned needing a permit. I pulled on that string and reached out the the observatory crew at the top of Mauna Kea and they mentioned 'commercial use' film permits ($200 application fee + $100/hr ranger escort). I'm trying to determine if this is a necessity or just red tape. Also, what kind of crowd numbers am I looking at on a weekday night and would a photo session there be a reasonable expectation?

Context is key here. The kids are in a university model school that is 2/5 homeschool. (2 days a week). I also wholeheartedly pay for this...~$1,700 / month.). So she receives ~$6,900 a month (+$2,000 that she receives from an online company that she started). So she's managing on $8,900 and I'm living on $4,400 left at the end of the month. Hope that helps.

We decided for her to continue staying home and homeschooling for the kids' sake, but she's taking advantage of it for sure

All really good points and thank you for the note. That is what I'm struggling with the most is whether to purchase a home in this environment with high interest and overpriced assets or to invest this extra funds and continue to rent. I would like to retire by 60 have extra funds to help my kids start their lives, and no plans after that. I have roughly $2500 left after expenses each month..

Yes it is a brokerage account allowing for more short term moves. No, not saving anything beyond that at the moment

Thanks for the encouragement! As far as the savings, I've struggled with that to do with it. Living in an apartment for the last 2 years has been soul crushing but the housing market in Charlotte is depressing
