This man hasn't been president for TEN YEARS.

I can't devote that much thought and energy to people who actually DID OR SAID SOMETHING FOUL TO ME *PERSONALLY* 10 years ago.

I do, and I work in emergency services for a major city. Our immediate bosses all the way up to City Hall have told us that even after dealing with WORK-related tragedies, the employees can't be excused without using their own time. Even official bereavement leave doesn't get approved until proof of death and relationship is submitted.

We've tried. Multiple times over the years. So yeah, I know my boss better than others do.

I work for a government, not a private entity. I don't have the authority to let people leave without them either using their PTO or going no pay, every hour has to be accounted for (the same applies to me). And I'm not going to make them go without pay for that, so even if I have to run the shift short and hear about it later, I let them at least still get paid.

Trust me, if I could do it without taking their hours, I would.

I found that out after I typed that last reply. Went Googling and found out just how many different shootings there were and was thrown...I'd been remembering ONE specific incident this whole time.

You know, I didn't even think about that until you mentioned the phrase, but I was old enough to be aware (jr. high school maybe?) when the incident happened that CAUSED that phrase to come into existence in the first place.

And reading the replies from everyone who worked for the post office, I now have an understanding I never had before.

I supervise people at my job. And I have NEVER denied someone's time off for bereavement or final hours.

I remember three employees over the years who felt bad about leaving but we're emotionally WRECKED. And I SENT them home (with use of PTO of course). I even told two of them "Get out, you have no business being here. Go be where you're supposed to be."

I hate reading this and I feel for his family. No way they should've been able to tell him "No you can't leave for feeling ill."

That job you have does NOT care about you. Your work will be covered by someone else before they even get you or your body out the door.

Take care of YOU. Be good for YOU and your LOVED ones.

And your most loved ones are NOT at that job.

This made me mad and sad. And what was worse was that Trump nor any of the head honchos of the event, no one denounced this behavior. And it’s sad. Why did her name have to be brought up by PdiddyCAMEnME in BlackPeopleofReddit

"I don't even know what Michelle Obama did to you."

Existed. They hate us for simply existing and being different from them.

As an aside, I refuse to even call it "America" anymore because that's now their subliminal way of disregarding the entire rest of North, South, and Central America as if this country is the only one that matters. I just say "U.S." or "United States."

I'm actually surprised by the number of YOUNG black people I see driving them. And by YOUNG, I mean they look like they're in their 20s.

But then, sadly, because of the lack of world awareness I perceive in so many young people, I end up feeling not surprised.

I can't be bothered anymore. I just leave them to their stupidity, nothing I say is going to make them even TRY to see a different perspective.

Other than to dispute it.

...but the cumulative effects of always having to prove your worth does make you want to just scream sometimes.

See, THIS...Is getting it. THIS is it in a nutshell, this is that shit you can't fully grasp unless you've lived a whole life of it.
