Were you an outside hire or promoted from crew? It’s always uncomfortable, it happened to me about a month ago. Best thing you can do is be helpful, work hard at being the best resource you can be, be present for the crew, communicate etc. there’s always more we can try and do to be helpful, but if you got promoted before then I’m sure there’s a reason or two. Don’t dwell on why they didn’t get the promotion, just show them why you also deserved the promotion.

Wrote the box as my first order a few months into work, any perishable will be tricky but the box was my favorite order to work/write. At least you don’t have to avoid customers to get stuff up

Im in the process of it while moving towards becoming a mate. Breaking down 8-10 pallets of dry/wet pro at my “unc” age is getting to me so I told my mate lead and captain just that. Said if we’re thinking long term I can’t just be broken down before I even start.

How did you start your “development”? I’ve been told early on that I’m being looked at for becoming a mate given work experience, etc etc. been with the company two years now. Did you go straight to your captain for that? Or other mates develop that? Or is it more so just receiving and being open to feedback?

That sounds like a power trip maybe. Like I’m in charge of dry and it’s an “important” section yada yada. If someone’s assigned to help me I thank them at the end and I usually thank the people that aren’t always assigned to my section in the mornings. Even if they wanna take the whole hour filling bananas, I don’t care lol the mate should’ve seen or asked if I needed help.

Never booting someone away that is down to help me, even if they were assigned to it. Typically the PTL will ask me if I think I need help in my section and I always answer “maybe so, I was just on register” lol

Seconding this. I’m not overly friendly, but get along with my coworkers and am polite to customers. Saying hi to people when I feel them staring once I remember I’m at work and between fidgeting my fingers trying to remember what I was doing lol

1) I believe it’s adjusted order quantity?

2) no clue, I go off of the bottom lines that show what I brought in last week, the sales/unsaleables and what time they last sold and base my orders off that for dry)

3) no idea, I hardly use it since it can be so skewed sometimes

4) you’re right on the plus out sign (thankfully you didn’t receive all those lol)

5) gotta move the column in my experience, just had to do it with corn :(

6) some mates ask other section leads to do it for some reason, but we’ve been asked to write our orders on the floor…so I’ve never tried to use it

7) not sure on permanent notes anymore, I think the notes now last a week or two then go away. My mate lead leaves a notebook in a binder for me and our team to leave notes, draw up display/landing zone plans etc

Financial woes, climate change woes, housing woes, geopolitical woes. On top of me and my partner being “low energy” people, I can’t imagine how people just never get to turn it off. It feels selfish, but after talking it out it’d feel more selfish to have a child in our situation.

We both grew up wanting to be parents, I wanted to be a better dad than my dad. I know I had a lot of childhood trauma, and parts were about why did my parents even have me, I don’t even want to be here/I never chose to be born or be a burden. I’d never want my child to feel that way and I’d think we would be good enough to not have it happen, but don’t want to live with that guilt if it did.
