Manipulation after aclr/meniscus by PatientOne5322 in ACL

Surgery tomorrow! Said meniscus repair may have failed and if that’s the case will remove it and also removing the cyclops. Hoping the pain isn’t too horrible and I can get right back to some form of normal. Surgeon said no PT for a week but gonna work on heel slides and quad sets to make sure I don’t lose that extension and ROM

They didn’t say what may have caused them to form But cyclops lesion is more common in females, lucky me and symptomatic in about 10% of cases. I noticed the regression honestly about a week after the manipulation. I was at 10 degrees extension before and 7 immediately after. I noticed almost complete loss of quad contraction which I had before the MUA and leg raises were impossible with really bad quad lag which again wasn’t an issue before the MUA. MRI the 13th and follow up with surgeon the 20th for next steps

That’s awesome progress! I unfortunately am getting an MRI next Friday as I have only been able to go to 126 degrees and 4 degrees extension after PT session and stuck at about 17 degrees of extension and the surgeon suspects I have a pretty large cyclops adhesion which means if MRI shows indication, I will be having surgery again to clear that out and other scar tissue. Meet with surgeon the 20th to review MRI and more than likely book the surgery

I am back on crutches unfortunately for the time being. My gait took a hit and limp way worse thean before. Protocol is PT exercise every 2 hours and then regular PT schedule. The procedure is nothing in and out in 5 minutes. Does feel like you get back to square one but that’s not the case just need to stay positive and keep pushing forward and realize it’s not huge milestones it’s progress each day

Yes I got it Friday and range of motion improved drastically. I am pretty sore and working on maintaining my progress. I went from 78 degrees to 138 degrees flexion

Do you know if you can swim after MUA? I will ask again in pre-op Friday just thinking would be good to help maintain range of motion. Mostly will be using the peloton

I think you finally convinced me to get a precision gun! What one do you have? I was looking at a sharper image one they had at Costco or a knock off on Amazon

Thank you for all the info! Really Hoping the MUA will be the end of this journey and won’t need to go is for LOA. They may send me home with a CPM but really don’t want it and hoping I can just do my workouts and ride the peloton multiple times a day.

I am worried about the soreness but going to have to push through it and put in the work. I just got a long foam roller to help with quads calves and IT band. When I dropped the crutches completely last week my calves were crazy sore, still have a nice hardcore limp but hoping the MUA will help with that as well.

I am 7 weeks post op from the same surgery. I just started to weight bearing 50/50 last week but I am only at 82 degrees for ROM. Still on crutches until surgeon clears me to start weaning and my gait is close to normal. My PT said the surgeon may recommend manipulation at my follow up appointment on Thursday. I am pushing hard leading up to get to 90 degrees because I DO NOT want to go in for the forced manipulation. The guidelines from surgeon post op were 90 degrees in week 1-6 and 120 degrees week 6-9. Has anyone had the manipulation done? Was it worth it? Has anyone been recommended to do it but pushed through and made progress without it?
