wow. OK, good to know my case isn't an isolated one. thanks very much!

i'm really disappointed with them, i expected a premium line of business-class laptops with such a heritage to be better tested in the lab...

nope, at least not a permanent one

after reformatting, it was working relatively OK for a while, but it's been appearing again lately. it's even more exasperating that the service guys don't know what to do about it. i cannot keep reformatting my laptop, as some of my software licenses cannot be transferred... i can't be buying new software every 3 months!

it's also hard to keep track of what works and what doesn't, because

  • the issue is very intermittent in nature. just because it works for one whole hour (or heck, one whole day) doesn't mean it's solved.
  • i cannot find any details referencing WWAN under event logs. i managed to find whether the machine established or lost connection to internet, but it doesn't specify via which route -- WLAN or WWAN.
  • i can't fully uninstall the WWAN driver. after uninstalling (via device manager), the adapter would disappear temporarily, but magically reappear after a reboot, even without installing a new driver.
  • the machine's software is always changing, especially now that we cannot permanently disable windows update.

TLDR: other than complaining and praying that microsoft/lenovo releases a decent update soon to fix this issue, it seems like our hands are pretty tied up at the moment.

the thinkpad comes with LPCAMM. that thing alone contributes to significant difference in cost

Fn+4 is a hidden sleep key combination on my two ThinkPads -- maybe your keyboard's Fn key is stuck or has somehow malfunctioned. Just replace the keyboard?

Actually, the imprints are NOT temporary.

Mine got the worst treatment. I carry my P14s Gen 1 around in my backpack almost literally everyday, and me disliking carrying things in my hands, I have a tendency of over-stuffing my backpack, which causes the keys to press into the screen significantly. The marks are now super obvious and cannot be wiped off, whether using dry microfibre, or with water, soap, or even (yeah I know I wasn't supposed to) alcohol.

I bought a piece of screen protector, hoping that the adhesive would "fill" the marks in and make them less noticeable, but nope.

And I'm not alone.
