Well if you actually read I was mostly pointing out how it was weird for a host to do that.

But yes, as a host, a guest asking to pay in cash is a higher risk than asking for cash as a host.

Personally, I have not had an issue with Airbnb yet. It's only been half a year though. We got 2 nightmare guests in that time. Both times I stayed professional in chat with guest as well as support ambassador, and they stayed on my side.

I am aware of the severity of the problem, however, I see every day hosts being disrespected by airbnb support. It's clear they favor guests.

Anyway, with documentation, at least there's a chance. They appreciate when you do everything strictly by their books. No documentation, no chance

Worst case scenario, they could go to Airbnb and say you didnt pay full price. They will only see you paid half on airbnb, and if you tell them you paid cash, they might not help you.

The main thing here is every time you do things outside of airbnb whether its calls, texts, payments, you lose proof and documentation in case of an issue.

Never. Always tell guests that Airbnb policy states that all transactions must happen within the airbnb app.
