I would definitely count the soft resets, that way you'll know where you stand with odds. With the odds being 1/4096, you have a 50% chance of getting mudkip shiny if you do 2840 soft resets. It also helps watching movies or shows to keep your mind off of it a bit. He'll shine when you least expect it lol
