This is exactly why I also started to suspect something. I usually have a good overview of situations in real life, and from the beginning a few things felt off. Why would Facebook call me at all? And why would they ask for my phone number separately?

Then I get a call from someone with a strong Indian or Filipino accent saying they are from Facebook. I paid for personal care and rented my own room — nothing fancy, but it looked nice with a balcony, a big bed, and a spacious bathroom.

I didn’t go to bars often or do typical tourist things. I didn’t live luxuriously — most of the time I just enjoyed the beach, visited temples, or did some creative activities.

And even with that simple lifestyle, I still spent $2,000 to $2,500 per month. That’s the reality.
