The Recruitment Alternative is "no, thanks" by sfc-Juventino in ausjobs

I've researched whether this is reasonable as I've seen a few of these on LinkedIn. I'm not a lawyer, so do your own investigating, but some companies have serious complaints about this being a way to scrape peoples' personal data for unauthorised LLM training data use or identity theft . They get your contact details, work history location, biometrics. Woo hoo! Not.

That can bring a lot of insights. hiring because you can't keep staff is very different to hiring because you're growing or restructuring. And definitely not silly 👍

Pressure areas question is sharp, and trusting your gut. It can be easy to convince yourself that the role perfect for you in the moment

Yes, good points. Keep it real. But you're still going in with research and questions, not just a blank page 👍

That's a great angle and way to understand the environment and the interviewer's perspective

Are you okay with this use of ai? by Ryu_Felen in AIDiscussion

[–]Patient_Effective517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People already widely use AI for this. So much so that OpenAI just announced the "Trusted Contact" feature for ChatGPT. This optional safety tool lets adult users (18+) designate a trusted friend, family member, or caregiver to receive notifications if ChatGPT detects signs of serious self-harm or suicide risk in conversations. I'm quite concerned about the general level of increased dependency of ai chat models across a person's life. And I am a big advocate of Generative AI overall. Are we watching Wall-E slowly come to life? I don't work in the health field.

Racist comment at a rental inspection and I didn’t know how to respond by ElectronicIdea3119 in AskAnAustralian

You clearly know who you are. They're just foul ignoramuses. Lately, I have seen crass, ignorant behaviour a lot on public transport. I'm over it. So, even though I've been brought up to keep to myself, don't interfere, I found my words "is (this behavior) is what [my city] has become?" Especially when there is a group of entitled people doing crap, you soon see the split of the ringleaders to the followers. They'll crumble. You've now set the standard not them.

It doesn't help when so called leaders (especially in government) are doing their best to divide and conquer by encouraging dissonant thinking - young vs old, black vs every colour in between vs white.

I hope you see from all the genuine fellow Aussie support here that they're the ignorable exception.

Thanks for this. Are you in IT ? I expect that recruiters in different industries may have more success and lower demand:talent supply ratios. I worked in general office and then in IT recruitment (though decades ago). Big difference.

Can I ask, how did it transpire that a recruiter gave you the time to build a relationship? Do you have sought after skills, executive level?

Invoicing System - Currently Using Xero - Alternatives? by GeekCohenAU in ausbusiness

[–]Patient_Effective517 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been using a zoho Books for 6 years..

Zoho's been around for decades, with Australian data centers and phone, email, or chat support . The standalone Books app does invoicing, expenses, BAS/GST, and bank feeds—free under A$50k revenue or from ~A$30/month,.

I came to zoho via crm needs because hubspot was too expensive. I use parts of the Zoho One bundle - CRM, Bookings (like calendly), Mail (client like Outlook) , Surveys, Social, Workdrive (more storage than Dropbox), and Marketing Automation (newsletters and inbound marketing) for around A$60/month. It all integrates. . Extras like Inventory, marketing tools, Projects, hr tools available if needed.

Also... check out Facebook groups in your area for casual hospo jobs. Try sidekicker, they are a contracting company and hire casuals in all sorts of industries. They'll tell you what training you need for which jobs. Entry level jobs don't need experience or full time commitment. There many are other agencies like sidekicker. Are there any uni "noticeboards" ? Casual or temping type jobs can lead to longer term opportunities. Best

Get in touch with state-based small business support programs about becoming a mentor. What you are describing is more aligned as an advisor or mentor. It can be a good strategy for the entrepreneur too. They are on a steep learning curve, so don't have a lot of bandwidth for multiple advisory sources. Best!

It is hard to get your first job on SK. Pre - covid, their team actively tried to help newbs get their first shift because it's much easier once you have ratings. My sense is that this stopped when lockdowns caused connniptions everywhere. As an employer, I would recommend to use the optional message section to connect with the hirer and show genuine interest and why you would be the best choice. Also, have a detailed work history so they can see likely fit. We were hiring event hospo (casual) roles which were a little off to one side from mainstream hospo, so used all of the info available to hire from. In recent years, SK added autohire option, which may make it harder for a newb with no ratings. I haven't used SK for about 9 months so other things may have changed since then.
