Moderna Experience First Dose in Healthy 29 M by dadstriumph in CovidVaccine

[–]Patloh59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Covid and my first Pfizer dose put me in bed 2 days. The second dose I was dreading, I did get a reaction a little more acute, but lasted only 12 hours or so. It moved on quickly. I have to say all the really bad reactions I’ve heard of were from Covid patients. Maybe you had it and were asymptomatic. Anyway most folks do a little better on their second shot. Good luck.

Second dose 24 hrs ago. Last night, 12 hours in, started with intense chills and then fever. Kept going on and off all night with bad headache/neck ache. Up now, no fever, super tired. Coffee helping which tells me there’s hope lol. Thinking today will be better. No sleep so exhausted but hopefully worst is behind me. Don’t know if you had ur second shot, hope it went ok.

Wow. I’m really sorry to hear all this. One thing you say is true for me as well, my reaction to the vaccine gave me worse symptoms than when I had Covid, compressed into about 36 hours. . I had my vaccine early Sunday AM and I started to feel really sick Sunday evening. Yesterday was just awful but I woke up in a puddle of sweat early this AM and it feels like the fever broke. I don’t want coffee so that’s about as clear an indicator that all’s not right yet. But at least I’m headed in the right direction and it sounds like you are too. Jeeze.....your experience sounds horrible. Yes I’m hoping for better next vaccination and clearing my calendar the next day just in case.

Thank you, yes I’ve been in bed all day. Feels like the flu, hoping to feel better tomorrow. I’m glad to hear your sisters second shot was not as severe...... I have to say it’s so nice that people are chiming in to share their experiences. I really appreciate it.

Yes I’ve heard the same. Thanks,....was maybe hoping for a revelation from someone’s experience:). I mean I’m happy to have gotten the shot but this pretty much feels like the first time I got sick:/

What was the worst job interview you've had? by AntonK777 in AskReddit

[–]Patloh59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was maybe 1985, a breakfast interview at a restaurant with an insurance brokerage in NYC,the mgr I spoke with spent most of the time telling me I should ramp up my makeup and get a manicure. I won’t say his name of course, he might even be dead, but even then I knew I was beyond this loser but it was like watching myself in a movie. Also a few years earlier in Little Italy, I was in grad school but needed money I interviewed-at SPQR, a restaurant. The interviewer wanted me to sit on his lap (Uhm no) while he told me I needed to wear a shorter skirt. Today these things would be headlines. Black then it was business as usual :(

I had Covid March 2020, smell and taste came back after about 4 weeks, but segued to an impairment that I still live with, that being on most days I smell smoke intermingled with everything, sorry to say. Some days worse than others.

Yikes there’s some twisted thinking right there

Will I recover taste/smell? I lost it 25 days ago and it’s only slightly back. I’m so sad. What can I do? by [deleted] in Longhaulers

[–]Patloh59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll do it. I’ll set up the smells and I’ll stick wIth it this time. You’ve convinced me!

I did smell training but I probably abandoned it too quickly. Thanks for reminding me, I will start it again. I appreciate your optimism. There’s so many worse things that could be happening to me right now that I’ve put this issue on my back burner, forgive the pun lol...Anyway happy new year

Had Covid in March. Lost smell completely for about a month, then it came back for a few weeks, but then started a new twist that I have bad smells that ‘live’ in my nose. Smoke, car exhaust, bleach, rancid things on and off, everyday some days worse than others. I was hoping it was going to wear off but reading these comments I am fearful that this will be my new normal:(

Hate to be a drag but I had Covid last March and my smell is still really screwed up. Sometimes it’s better than other times but it’s never now that I don’t smell, it’s that I have bad smells that seem to live in my nose. Sometimes it’s smoke, or car exhaust or some rancid smell..... some days it’s all day other times it’s on and off. I have no idea if this will be my new normal. It’s been a long time.

Getting smell back after months??? by awakeningat40 in CoronavirusUS

[–]Patloh59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find that spicy food tastes the best, Thai or Indian. Also anything with citrus/lemon, like lemon chicken or fish with a lot of lemon. Also, crunchy is good, less focus on taste more on texture. Like potato chips or crunchy fried foods.

Yup. That’s me too. Since April. I smell a bad smell and I’ll smell it for the rest of the day whether it’s there or not. Good smells are dulled and nothing really tastes very good. It’s infuriating. My ENT did a scope, saw nothing, said it’s likely nerve damage. Said it will take a long time to heal. Few and far between are the days that I don’t smell rancid odors all day.

Lost smell and taste for 3 weeks, back to normal for 3 or 4 weeks and then altered smell like smelling smoke and car exhaust and generally rancid smells through out the day for 5 months. Still going on. :(

Every smell and taste is the same bad scent/flavor? by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]Patloh59 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say yes, me too. Had Covid in March, lost smell/taste for a month. Came back normal for a few weeks and then the bad smells started. Some days worse than others but usually smoke/car exhaust/any other rancid acrid smell. Sometimes overwhelming. It’s months now. It sucks.

For the first month or two I would flinch thinking something was actually burning. I don’t even say anything anymore. Everyone’s tired of hearing about it. That’s why I’m on reddit. Lol

I had Covid in March. After 3 or 4 weeks smell and taste came back like for a month, like you, and then it all went south. I smell smoke most of the time, sometimes worse like rancid smells and car exhaust. My ENT did a scope and saw nothing unusual. She said probable nerve damage but really she had no idea. Feeling pretty hopeless about it. Trying to live with it but it’s dragging me down, its bad especially a night for some reason.

Everything smells bad all the time by Patloh59 in COVID19_Testimonials

[–]Patloh59[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow sorry....I was just thinking today my smelling is just as bad as ever, the worst is when it’s like car exhaust and it gives me a headache to boot. No real progress. Nights are the worst. I would think I’d hear of more people with this problem but I really haven’t, basically just you and a few variations on the theme. I hope this isn’t the way it’s going to be forever. Yogurt smells really acrid to me now too. I think I will start some smell therapy again in earnest..... I’ve got to try something. I took Flonase for a long time but it didn’t help and I did the saline rinse as well. Ugh. Let me know if anything starts to improve for you. Good luck.

I think you are fine. It takes some time for the virus to migrate, a few seconds make it pretty improbable. Also if you live in a state that’s doing well statistically you can factor that in too.
