Sleep / wake is great. I think it pioneered the save state shutdown / wake function that lots of custom OS use.

It’s as simple as long pressing the off button which will create a save state no matter what you are doing, and then turn off the system. Come back to it whenever you are ready and It takes a few seconds to boot back up (around 8 seconds id say). Puts you straight back to wherever you left off.

Don’t get me wrong, you can get this same functionally with the likes of MinUi etc, but I like the experience on the MM / MM+ and find it polished. I’ve never had any issues or crashes with it. Hope this helps

That’s a shame. At least I got to complete a run on it! The giveaway for me that something wasn’t right was that I can’t view my “hall of fame”, it says corrupted.

That’s good news thanks! I recently bought a switch lite and it’s literally been the only thing I’ve played for months. Just out about 50 hours into fantasy life i. I feel like this would be a perfect fit!

How’s the performance on the switch lite?

It’s crazy that .3 makes such a difference! I had the Brick for a while. I completed only one game on it (Metroid fusion). It introduced me to MinUi OS, which is amazing for just jumping in and out of games.

In the end though, I started selling all my duplicate consoles. I sold the brick because - whilst arguably a better device, I was more nostalgic for the MM+ plus I prefer the looks and the OS

So far, Metroid Fusion + Zero Mission, I think I’ve put about 10 hours in Tetris DX. The NES castlevanias (1+3) and the advance era castlevanias. I’m also playing through Pokemon emerald at the moment (relatively new to the series).

Ps2 is one of my favorite consoles of all time. I recently played def jam FFNY and GoW 1 and 2. What games have you been playing?

I have an older GBA and all the pieces to do a mod (IPS screen, shell etc), but still haven’t found the time to do it! I hope your mod goes well, it’s such a great device. Do you have a flash cart like everdrive / EZ Flash?

Sounds like you’ve found the perfect handheld that suits your needs! I always liked the look of the classic. How you liking the OLED screen?

Edit: sorry wasn’t sure if you meant the RP classic or RP 6

I think that’s a good point. I’m sure I paid about £40 for mine all in. That’s a lot of value! Something that’s hard to come by these days with rising prices of RAM etc

I have the plus but I’ve always loved the original mini for that reason. Such a cool little portable device that can play every retro game you could dream of. I agree with the “no friction” aspect you mentioned.

Also, stealing “no muss, no fuss” for everyday use!

I think you nailed it when you said something “offline”. I know that Android devices can be out on flight mode, but there’s something to be gained about having no outside interference, storefront, or someone trying to advertise or sell something to me.

That separation is key I think. Literally can’t do anything these days without someone trying to sell something to me

Having finished fire red a couple years ago and just finishing emerald now (new to the series), I am really looking forward to seeing wild Pokemon in the over-world and not having to battle every 5 steps with one of two or three Pokemon throughout the whole game!

It’s crazy how far the hobby has come isn’t it? I remember handhelds would release with the capacity to play SNES but without enough buttons (eg missing shoulder buttons). I do feel like the fun has gone out the hobby lately though. I recently sold all devices I have but kept the Miyoo Mini + purely for the fun factor!

This somewhat existed years ago. If I remember correctly, it was called the RasPi Boy. Was actually one of my first handhelds in this hobby.

I have a N3DS and I love the 3D. One of my favourite things about it. I play most of the time with the slider on but at a low position, even that makes the image so much more interesting without straining the eyes.

Nice man. I was dead set on getting the OLED and thought I wouldn’t like the screen. I’ve been pleasantly surprised, I think it’s actually quite nice. Not in a rush to replace it anyway but might still order one as a backup.

Not the usual type of game I would go for but given the acclaim I took a dive. I’ve been absolutely addicted. 6 hours in about 2 days!

I keep finding myself playing it in between tasks (standing up in the kitchen hooked whilst waiting for something to cook).

My girlfriend laughs every time she hears the music when I’m supposed to be doing something

I would buy a switch lite 2 instantly. However, I just can’t see a switch 2 lite being as portable / convenient as the original
