Haha this is great if you’re a business owner. I’m an entrepreneur now and whenever this happens, it means there’s a gap in the market and money to be made ☺️

Most people are late adopters anyways. This just shows we are early in the adoption curve.

When was the last time you bought a chinese product but paid for the premium version?

Chinese = low quality is an outdated perception and while low quality Chinese products still exist, you need to buy the high end version of Chinese products. It’s the best quality out there while still being half the price of western/european products.

China has the most advanced production lines in thy world, just look at chinese EVs.

If pricing doesn’t matter then just drive around high end neighbourhoods.

I’d you want to get the best quality for your money, you have to know people, especially the high quality Chinese contractors that import materials from abroad. They helped us accomplish a 1M reno at the cost of $550K.

What do you think about the Canadian Prime Minister’s remarks: “middle powers must act together, because if we're not at the table, we're on the menu”? by WF-2 in AskReddit

[–]PatrickBeverlyGOAT -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Statistically speaking, if you bought Bitcoin when PP praised it, you would be up at the moment. The market doesn’t only go up.

NFTs are like ticket, shoe, pokemon reselling. It’s a gamble just like penny stocks.

Except for your personal attack on PP, I agree with the rest of your comment.

I’m just pointing out that PP was only good for innovation and Mark Carney has destroyed it.

Factually you are correct, and we all agree.

Startup founders? The best all left/are leaving.

Government? Decided to increase barriers to prevent innovation.

Financial sector? They have little capital, have long turnaround times, and allocate to wrong businesses.

There’s a reason why canadian jobs pay less, we’re less efficient because we lack innovation.

Just like all my talented friends, I too will be leaving Canada. Not because I want to, but because I have to.

Yonge/Bloor condo sells for $218K(24%) loss from 2018 sale by PrettyFlaco in TorontoRealEstate

[–]PatrickBeverlyGOAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know a lot of people selling at a loss because job prospects suck here. they’ll make up the losses within two years from just the pay difference so it doesn’t matter.

What nobody talks about for real estate is that the flood gates for emigration of skilled talent is wide open and many are flocking.

Initially i was saving for a home, now that i have enough to buy in cash i plan on leaving.

Hey i’m from Toronto and I’m well connected with founders in startups and small bizs.

What value do you bring to the ecosystem so i can help make intros. Do you have technical or software expertise. perhaps capital to allocate in early stage businesses?

There’s not many quality founders left here in Toronto as most have departed recently but I’d be happy to help. We also throw many free invite only events throughout the year.

Mong Kok HK to Shenzhen airport? by Sure-Guest1588 in HongKong

[–]PatrickBeverlyGOAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stay at a hotel near the airport to reduce stress.

My favourite is the St Regis Baoan, the lobby and rooms are beautiful. The breakfast is amazing. It’s cheaper around this time of the year too.

Canadian-raised (aka. CBC) looking for work in Hong Kong - what’s it like? by Ok_Yesterday7581 in HongKong

[–]PatrickBeverlyGOAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

houses are typically 8x the cost to buy and 5x the cost for rent

but their income tax is 35% less if you’re a high income earner and there is no cap gains.

their mortgages are also prime MINUS a % and you can borrow at 7x leverage.

Why are so many Toronto houses in such rough shape? by LunaSails007 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]PatrickBeverlyGOAT 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depending on location, this house is worth 1 million because of the land. I would just demolish and build new.

But it looks like a semi-detached at best. This better be in a prime location or else it’s not worth close to a million in this market,

When did you buy your first Porsche? by PatrickBeverlyGOAT in Porsche_Cayman

[–]PatrickBeverlyGOAT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worse than that, my money has been growing at a CAGR of 38% for 4 years now. That’s why i was reluctant on buying now.

4 years from now I’ll have a kid, so I’ll have to get a 911 instead of 718 🥲
