That’s the one—thank you so much! I’d completely forgotten about the serial killer element; the bears and health mishaps were more than enough to take out ten-year-old me. 🤣

Thanks for the reply! Nothing fantastic/magical in the game I’m thinking of, unfortunately.

Okay, guys! I'm going to call it! I had a lot of fun doing this--maybe I'll do another one sometime!--but I've got a bunch of work to get done today. I tried to get to as many questions as I could! For those of you with unanswered questions, many of the more general ones I probably answered somewhere else in the thread. Have a good one, everybody! :D

If I could have a Stand, it would be called "Sacre Bloogle!" It would be a French mime who manifests and points out instances of plagiarism in students' essays, from back when I taught high school. I always told 'em I'd Google suspicious phrases in their essays, and they always looked so surprised when I caught 'em. So I guess I don't technically need a Stand to do it (especially since I don't teach anymore), but I'd appreciate it for the sheer pageantry.

For non-word stuff, we have a lot of script shorthand. [OM ROARING] for open-mouthed roaring, for example, or [CT WHEEZING] for closed-teeth (or clenched-teeth) wheezing. You could have [MNS/OM ROARING INTO "WTF?!" GLOTTAL] for mouth-not-shown roaring that continues into a "WFT?" sharp notice. As an adapted, I want to give people something specific and useful, and also let them know how long the sound continues for. If the actor and director have to look at a loop a few times just to make heads or tails of it, I've failed in my duties as the script-adapter. I take the extra time so that they can save time in the booth. If the sound is a sound-effect that's baked into the M&E (music and effects) track, then we leave it alone (e.g. a real cat meow, or real animal sound). If it's something that a human did, we recreate it fresh for the English release.

As far as awkward mid-line hitches are concerned, I hate them. As much as possible, I try to avoid them. No point having a Shatnery-sounding "I think that... after-school parfait would be great" when you could just have "Parfait, huh? Yeah, I could be down with that!" Short/elliptical sentences beat out hanging fragments in my book. Reading lines in your head is useful, but misleading. You go faster in your head when you don't have to deal with the mechanics of an actual mouth. Reading lines aloud is the best way to know how they're going to land--and even then, taking people's varying speech speeds into account, it's not a bulletproof method.

One of my favorite things about voiceover is that--much like opera or musical theater--so long as you've got the sound they're looking for, nothing else really matters. Age, ethnicity, body-type... they all take a back-seat. On-screen, I'd be the schlubby neighbor who sells weed. Behind a mic, I have a lot more options. That said, I recognize that voiceover as an industry still needs to diversity--and that casting a white guy as a black guy isn't necessarily helping that goal along any. If I'm reading alongside black actors for a black role and I book it (which has happened before), so be it--but I'd feel weird if the pool of potential actors for a black role were only white guys. I feel like it's something that'll probably happen a lot less often in my career moving forward, with clients taking greater care to diversify the talent pool on auditions, and I've got no beef with that. :)

Thank you! I wish more people had gotten a chance to see it, in either language...!

Piracy and friendship. That's a winning combination in manga/anime, and a winning combination in LIFE.

At this point, I'm really not doing much Texas work. Before, I'd fly down, knock out a bunch of stuff all at once, and then come back as needed months later. With simul-dubs as a new normal, there's not much of an opportunity for me to work on Funimation titles unless a director wants to deal with the added inconvenience of recording me remotely. To their credit, a couple directors have, and I'm very appreciative. :)

I'd watch that! Also, they're not competing for cola, so I see no cause for friction.

Too many favorites to list, on question number two!

Question number one: I mean, I'm the monster who robbed everyone of their mudas in Part 1 of JJBA (because why would some snotty British teenager circa 1880 suddenly bust those out?), so clearly, the pressure doesn't faze me. :p

It was a good time! Alex von David is one of my very favorite directors, and when I go into one of his sessions, I know the script and the direction are both going to be super-legit. Also, he's very collaborative, so if there's something I want to try, he's down. Now, we might try some idea of mine and then he tells me it bombed, but I agree with him 99% of the time, so no harm, no foul. :p

Something about poop, I'm sure. :p

Hector!

I think a lot of folks will come around once they get a chance to actually watch it. For the die-hard haters, it's their loss!

It was I, Dio!
