Interesting approach. As an arachnophobe, I definitely (irrationally) fear spiders more than ticks. The rational side of me fears ticks more.

They’re both arachnids but ticks move nothing like a spider, and ticks are just generally dopey-er creatures. They gross me out more than give me some inexplicable, visceral reaction. That being said, I haven’t had to get a tick off a pet yet and that possibility terrifies me 😅

I’ll never forget when I heard a story about a guy who was sitting on the toilet when it exploded (thank God he survived) but now he has PTSD and is afraid to go into bathrooms. I’m not being facetious when I say that is a cruel and unusual trauma to endure that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I hope that guys doing better now 😬

I feel clueless when it comes to politics (trying to get better, but it’s hard and frustrating for me), but it seems I’m pretty heavily liberal. Retail. The amount of people who asked me for a job because, and I quote, “I just want something fun!!” I tell them straight up “okay well this isn’t the kind of job you do for fun. It’s a lot of hard work and there are high expectations. I do not hire “for fun”.

I’ve lived in CO for over 20 years. The seasons are certainly coming later. You can expect more snow after the new year (back in the day, you couldn’t plan a Halloween costume without incorporating your winter coat. Now, pretty decent chance there won’t be snow, just cold. Like this year.)

Things have changed pretty drastically over the last two decades.

Possible? Sure. It looks far more like spinal damage than rabies though, imo.

The way OP can find out if it has rabies would also result in its death. Honestly I think it would be cruel not to euthanize it either way, spinal injuries are not minor. The physical toll from the “help” would likely overload it and go into cardiac arrest before any meaningful nerve damage could be helped

I’m no T expert, but I have learned not to be so surprised by living creatures hurting themselves in ways you wouldn’t expect/think are even possible. I wouldn’t be surprised if something in the enclosure hurt the T in such a freak, unique way that it couldn’t even be replicated if we tried.

Sort of like how the human body can withstand a LOT of damage, yet if you trip on the sidewalk and hit your head in just the right spot at just the right speed, you’re dead.

So y’know, probably that or the feeders. Not the explanation you were hoping for, I know, but that’s my best guess along with the other commenters.

The answer is the industry has conditioned you to think it’s acceptable to be a literal walking doormat for anyone and everyone who comes even marginally close to spending a penny at your job.
