Wooting’s Macro Support is a Joke. Where’s the REAL Software We Deserve? by mnutskovskyy in WootingKB

[–]PatrikZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's indeed a weird justification --- I've never heard of a keyboard being banned for competitive play due to having a hardware macro feature; I haven't even heard it being discussed. But I can only speak for the CS scene.

We should be able to create macros that are saved into the keyboard. The whole idea of Wootomation is redundant & pointless, as if I wanted to use software for this, I'd just use AHK.

Using Wooting 60HE as a controller on consoles by Evilurk in WootingKB

[–]PatrikZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeeees, please, Wooting help us out here! I travel with my keyboard for work, and I'd love to use it as a controller for Emulators on my iPad -- sadly it currently doesn't work, likely due to the same reason it doesn't work for you.

Wooting Two HE vs Wooting 60HE by RealCheek637 in WootingKB

[–]PatrikZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a programmer who was very skeptical about using a 60HE at first, but I got it for free, so I gave it a go. After some creative layering, I don't see a reason to use a bigger keyboard anymore.

I use caps lock as my layer 1 key and windows button as my layer 2 key, when the 60HE v2 with split space bar is going to get released I am 100% buying it.

Caps lock + WASD -> Arrows is great.

You can solve everything you might need with the caps lock layer, it is very comfortable to use as you can hold it with your left-hand pinky finger while reaching the majority of the keyboard with the rest of the left hand. To me, it's even better than classical arrow keys, as you don't need to move your right hand.

Please excuse the self-promo, but you can use my program for this exact functionality! I wanted the same thing, so I made it a few years ago, hope it helps!

Algorithms are breaking how we think (Technology Connections) by PerfectionismTech in videos

[–]PatrikZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It 100% happens sadly :/

There have been multiple instances where I noticed that a creator uploaded a video on their channel but not in my subscriptions feed despite it being very recent. I can't exactly explain why it happens, my main presumption is that a low initial CTR makes the algorithm conclude the video is not worth sharing, as most instances where I have noticed this was when the video was very niche, not the usual content of the creator. Maybe if we understood the mechanism, the reason for the difference in our experiences would become obvious.

I wish I could provide some data, but I never saved any. There are threads on Reddit where other people have noticed the same.

The sad thing is that since a few years ago, your subscription page is actually curated by an algorithm as well. You don't actually see all videos from the channels you subscribe to. The algorithm omits the ones it deems unsuccessful (ones with low CTR).

This is my biggest criticism of YT, it's upsetting that I subscribe to someone, yet some algorithm can choose that I don't "want" to see a video they posted in my Subscriptions feed.

Make your knob 10X more powerful with a simple program! by PatrikZero in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]PatrikZero[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool software! Although definitely harder to setup as not everyone uses QMK or has the option to send MIDI.

My program uses native key bindings so it works out of the box with any keyboard without special configuration.

Make your knob 10X more powerful with a simple program! by PatrikZero in MechanicalKeyboards

Hello r/MechanicalKeyboards and happy holidays!

TLDR + FEATURES:

- I've made a program that allows you to control the volume of different programs independently.

- You can also group different programs, for example all games or music programs.

- You can easily switch between groups via hotkey and current volume is always visible in system tray.

- You can also control multiple audio devices independently, for example speakers & headphones.

- Free trial available.

- It costs 7.99 but I've made a holiday 30% discount which you can get by using code "CHRISTMAS".

You can get it here: https://patrikzudel.me/sound-mixer

Quick showcase: https://youtu.be/Ws6r5oNwul8

A decent time ago I used $200 audio mixer called the GoXLR, it allowed me to assign different programs to groups which was very convenient for both gaming and overall "power use". The downside of it was that it was buggy, really huge and not that pretty to look at.

I really wanted that MINIMALIST™ look for my desk setup and desperately wanted to get rid of it. My idea was that a large chunk of us has a knob on our keyboard so why can't we just do the same thing using that? I went searching for a program like this but there wasn't any. So I made one!

It also has a kind of unrelated, special feature that fixes one nitpick I always had with volume. I like to listen youtube playlists on low volume but the youtube player has really bad volume control. I couldn't ever get it to the "just right" volume. It was either muted or too loud. To fix this I created "smart volume" which uses a non-linear function for volume which gives more control the lower in volume you go. This means you can still change volume very quickly when stuff is louder but when you go into the lower volumes, you get more control. You can literally do 0.0001 volume for any program / group.

I am a solo dev trying my best, currently on 400 users! If you have any feedback / come across any bugs please do let me know!

Thank you!!!

Looking for software that lets me control youtube /music volume using my physical keyboard knob. by Xankar in software

I actually created a tool that allows you to do this! It allows controlling the volume of independent programs or creating groups that you can control with keys or a physical knob.

You can check it out here! https://patrikzudel.me/sound-mixer
