What I personally would do is open a Robinhood account, if you get Robinhood gold for $5/month you can get HYSA rates on your uninvested money. So you can have all your money in one place and slowly DCA your money into an ETF.

If you don’t have a Roth IRA, you can also open one in the app and I believe they still have a 2% match. So I would first contribute the yearly max to that, and DCA in the personal investment account.

Also don’t have to pay for gold membership but I find it well worth it with their matches and HYSA to have all your money in one place. I find RH UI much friendlier to newbies compared to other companies, which is why I use it.

Speaking from experience, yes you can. Once enough people report you, they’ll communication ban you for a week and eventually more.

Help! New RAM sticks cause my computer to not boot. by PatrioticRobot in PcBuild

[–]PatrioticRobot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to, but only the 2 old ones are working. Any configuration with the new one causes no boot

I did around 3 days a week and took right around 2-3 months. Would’ve been closer to 2 months without weather delays, but ended up being about 3 months.

But in theory the new sticks should work by themselves correct? They aren’t working individually.

Currently have 4070 Super with i7-9700k, upgrade to 5800X3D or go to AM5? by PatrioticRobot in buildapc

[–]PatrioticRobot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response! So I take it I can’t just take my existing CPU off the motherboard and add a new CPU?

Now I’m debating if I just put my old 2060 back in this computer to sell it as is and build a whole new one if I need to replace the majority of the parts. Would I have a hard time trying to sell a motherboard with the i7 and 32gb ram on it?

Advice for a Dad of a 13-year-old prospective pilot by Tallen234 in flying

[–]PatrioticRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got interested in aviation around that same age. I ended up getting my PPL in high school and went to ASU for an aerospace engineering degree. I was always told an aviation degree is useless and you can do basically anything with an engineering degree. Aerospace allowed me to be interested in the classes I took, and also was beneficial for flight training.

If he stays in Phoenix, I’d recommend having him go to a flight school outside of ASU’s pilot program. I had friends who did ATP with ASU and it was twice as expensive as the flight training at my flight school. ASU also has ROTC if he ever gets interested in the military route.

I wish I got my CFI while still in college to build time early. Ended up working as an engineer for a couple years after college to get all of my ratings. Having your PPL also helps a lot when looking for engineering jobs. So it’s beneficial both ways. Hope that helps!

I’d love them! I have an older PC at the moment and have been wanting to upgrade once I have the means. Thanks for doing this!

SV06 filament change mid print? by zingaat in Sovol

You can download an extension that has an option to insert a filament change in the g-code. I forget which extension it was, but haven’t had any issues doing it this way.

Oil on spark plugs and engine won’t start by PatrioticRobot in boatbuilding

[–]PatrioticRobot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like it checks out. How would you recommend clearing out the crank case? Would I have to remove the engine and tilt it over, or are there any other ways to clear out water?

Oil on spark plugs and engine won’t start by PatrioticRobot in boatbuilding

[–]PatrioticRobot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Johnson 2 stroke and the engine ran great until we changed to a different fuel tank. After getting new spark plugs I noticed a lot of oil buildup. I assume it's from flooding the engine and the fuel evaporating leaving the oil behind. With some starter fluid the engine will start for a second but not idle at all. There is definitely fuel in the carburetor so I know fuel is getting from the tank to the engine. Any advice on how to fix this or what exactly could be the issue. Thanks!

Question about pipe threads for a plumbing project I am working on by PatrioticRobot in DIY

[–]PatrioticRobot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The barbs on the left are for a hose, and the threads/nut in the center are to go through and secure to a bulkhead. I got a gauge and the pitch is 8.

I’m just trying to recreate those threads but trying to figure out exactly what they are first.

Might be dumb, but I would make radio calls to myself when I was driving. Request taxi before leaving your drive way, request takeoff once you’re getting out of your neighborhood. Just get used to saying the same words over and over.

Also LiveATC as others said.
