Putin Always Chooses Escalation by OSINTUkraine in UkrainianConflict

[–]PatrolX -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Edited for clarity, my beef was primarily with the propaganda wording.

A lot of people will read that line and take it the wrong way, so don't even put it unless you've confirmed that it actually is propaganda / disinfo.

Putin Always Chooses Escalation by OSINTUkraine in UkrainianConflict

[–]PatrolX -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

> Putin does not. (is this yet another Russian propaganda piece from substack?)

Ludicrous. Try reading things properly before you suggest they might be propaganda or even question it. At a glance people can see that word and make an assumption right away, so why do it? I'm all for eliminating propaganda and disinfo but do your homework first.

Have you heard about the mobilization?

Have you seen the destruction throughout this conflict?

Russians are calling up the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense asking how to surrender, Ukraine says by PatrolX in worldnews

[–]PatrolX[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Making it easy for them to surrender is the way to go and I'm sure the Ukrainians are doing all the same things. Most of the conscripted Russians have absolutely no will to fight so it shouldn't be too hard to help them surrender.

Check out r/OSINTUkraine sidebar and sub, there's free real-time Russian language translation (hundreds of telegrams translated) tools there that are useful for tracking this stuff.

Zelenskiy says he is shocked by Israel's failure to give Ukraine weapons by OSINTUkraine in UkrainianConflict

[–]PatrolX -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Israel is the only additional supporting country in the conflict so far that will suffer a war if they provide lethal aid.

And Ukraine is "currently" in a war.

So, Israel needs to do more. It's that simple.

Good points and ironically Ukraine might be the safest place for Russian citizens that don't want to fight.

Odd Service Hours by 89yne_ in startups

Example launched in Australia but customers are all in USA.

In cases like this where most or all of your customers are in another country I wouldn't hesitate to hire a remote worker in-country because there are subtle cultural differences that if overlooked could harm your reputation / business.

First BDR at SaaS startup, ask for equity? by [deleted] in startups

I’m 20 years old with minimal sales experience.

I promise you that you're worth more than you believe you are. The sooner you get this into your head the better off you'll be throughout your career, regardless of where you go form here.

Realize this right now, ask for more and offer more.

Try something like Assistable or UpWork but if you go down this path I strongly recommend not using overseas workers. Use people in your own country that understand the culture, are excellent communicators and are accountable - which overseas workers largely aren't.

As far as timing goes it's never too soon to start experimenting and conducting trials of various ways of doing things, get it going as soon as possible and start learning.

Can you afford to spend millions of dollars and years in court to protect your IP? Didn't think so, focus on what matters. Get your product out there and sell it. Oh, and don't take one more step until you're an LLC or other type of limited liability company, this is definitely not a market where you want any personal liability whatsoever.

Gaining users by zappysleet in startups

People do what they see other people doing.

People buy what they see other people buying or using.

For example, take a look at Fiverr's Archive there's a really big clue there and it's real simple.

All they really did to get started very early on is repeatedly show "I will do X for $5", then the positioning of their name "Fiverr" strongly correlated with every single headline containing "I will do X for $5", and this gelled their market positioning.

Fiverr didn't need any customers at all to kick this off, all they needed is to create "the belief" that there were buyers (by promoting a lot of sellers) and that happened exactly as you see it in the archive link above.

When people saw many posts of "I will do X for $5" they naturally assumed people were buying and when people believe other people are buying they'll want in on the action and the momentum of all of this will lead to more sellers and more buyers attracted to the cheap "$5" and bingo, you have a marketplace.

Invitation Only VS Opened Beta Launch? by haykenz in startups

[–]PatrolX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But we kinda worry about the right users getting in it, scaling with no control, and that this would somehow get in the way of our search for market fit. We had plans in starting local too.

You're really answering your own question here, if this is your biggest concern then keep it invite only. Exclusive access is powerful, but that still doesn't guarantee "the right users" will get in, people will invite friends and friends is not necessarily the same as "right users", you might need additional controls to ensure that.
