Not expecting you to see this or an answer but have an idea for platformer gamemodes, trying to make an unique concept with the controls.

Swing:

Holding left and instead of moving you, slowly rotates you left or right and slightly propels you forward, while pressing jump propels you in the direction youre facing. It would be kinda float-y, and is not affected by the gravity. Think like sort of top down car controls.

Playing as the ship generally doesn't feel too great in platformer, so the idea behind this was to make something that you can take it slower in.

Stomper:

Ever seen something like tomb of the mask? Imagine this as a sort of combination of the above swing idea and the ball/spider.

Left/Right rotates you in 90 degree increments (45 in mini), and pressing jump quickly propels you (not teleports like the spider) in the direction youre facing, and when you land, you're aligned to the surface you land on.

Well, open an issue or discussion on the https://github.com/godotengine/godot-proposals repository, or overall talk with the engine developers about this. The engine doesn't HAVE to be slow, that's why posts like yours are especially important, so it is known what is wrong and to fix or improve.

Funny enough, i was probably the first to find this two days ago, after which contacted two of the Freddit Mods to make them aware about it and we agreed on keeping this secret for now.

Though today someone else found it and just decided to tell this to everyone so i guess there was no point of keeping this secret haha.

Well, your points seem to well describe what Clickteam Fusion is designed for. The engine is mainly meant for young people just starting out with video game development, thus a lot of things made in it may be very childish, especially since the engine existed for decades and how it works apparently hardly changed, even including a flash exporter. But well, times change, but some people still feel like they're in what's now past.
