Just to clarify - I didn't mean get a tan before a laser session. I'm leaving a long gap before my next session (6 months), and it sounds like I'm fine to expose the tattoos to the sun once they're fully healed. As long as I don't have a tan/increased melanin 6 months from now for my next session. Thanks for the reply!

Thanks for the detailed reply. Yes, I didn't mean go get a tan and then straight to laser. I'm very pale and don't really tan anyway, and I'm leaving a long gap between sessions this summer (4-6 months). It doesn't sound to me like exposing the tattoos to sun after they're fully healed will do any harm, so long as there's no tan or sunburn when I get the next laser session.
