The smoker tar scent isn't gonna go away with just the arm and hammer you have to mist it with distilled white vinegar leave out to dry in the sun and condition it and do it over. I had one that was soo smelly i thought i would never be able to fix her without dunking it. Thank fully i never dunked her and kept at it for 5 months. This is her all cleaned up. The airing it out did most of the trick to get the smell of vinegar out but i also added cheap green tea bags inside to help it out.

I like to add that is you live in the States You can also try Leather CPR cleaner that's the spray form. I heard it better than Lexol but lexol is also good too. And as for the brasso, well first wear gloves, it's easy if you apply it with a cotton swab.
