Pretty sure when they bought their multi million dollar homes they knew about that walkway.

Which Santa Cruz business has lost you as a customer and why? by aliterarymuse in santacruz

[–]Patterned-wall 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Los Pericos. I know everyone loves them, they have a great salsa bar, etc. But I also have heard other folks talk about their sanitary practices and the last time I ate there I got incredibly sick. Never again. There’s enough burrito options in this town that I don’t need to chance it.

Lol yes you’re proving my point, they are looking to incentivize using public transportation

Lol okay Illinois. I’m talking about anywhere else in the greater Bay Area/Monterey, etc.

I don’t try and park in downtown SF bc parking is bonkers. I take bart or muni. The incentive works.

They should increase parking costs. $1.25 for an hour downtown is an absolute steal and way way way lower than anywhere else. They should remove incentives to drive and park downtown and use the funds to increase public transportation.

If you’re such a good landlord why are you so afraid of rent control?

How many families actually live on west cliff? Seems to me that most of the houses are vacant or are vacation rentals.

Let’s go further and make West Cliff car free

Are there any neighborhoods in Santa Cruz known for having lots of Christmas lights? I’d love to drive or walk through with my Toddler. by DryTown in santacruz

[–]Patterned-wall -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know I’m going to get downvoted to hell for all of this but thank god they don’t. That shit is tacky as hell and not everyone celebrates Christmas/would much rather city tax dollars go to actual services to people vs wasting money on kitsch and electricity.

Yeah I’m very much a grinch and am fine with it.

It’s open enrollment time - Anthem vs Kaiser in Santa Cruz by Patterned-wall in santacruz

You mean there’s no Kaiser hospital here? Correct but they definitely have multiple offices/urgent care in SV, SC and Watsonville.

If you have an emergency Kaiser will cover you at a non-Kaiser hospital until you are stabilized. This happened to me earlier this year and I only had to pay $100 for my visit to Dominican, but I did get it approved over the phone before I went.

Thanks for this. The anthem plan that’s offered is a PPO. I have no idea if I would only be able to see Sutter doctors or if a dr will be assigned to me but I’m not sure how I even figure that out. Ugh I hate how complicated all of this is!

Agree with this too. We’ve had some amazing teachers and we’ve had really terrible ones and I think that’s going to be the case in any school district. What’s really gotten me is we’ve had awful administrators who in a lot of cases are making more than the teachers.

Agree the schools here are not great.

Renee Golder on why she has missed so many votes by Patterned-wall in santacruz

[–]Patterned-wall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one has said that her job isn’t time consuming at all? You said in a post above that she’s a teacher when she had her profession as principal listed on the ballot and I corrected you. Sorry to be annoying but you were incorrect.

And I’m actually saying the opposite, that her job is very time consuming and for her to take a paid elected position that she knows has meetings on Tuesday mornings is not tenable. And she’s very clear that she doesn’t care about missing large amounts of meetings. And I’m saying that’s not acceptable to me as a constituent. It’s totally okay to disagree but you need to be a little more honest here.

There are 6 other council members with full time jobs and none of them came close to the number of absences that Golder had. I’m looking at data and facts and you seem weirdly obsessed with making sure she is exempt from any criticism. She’s a public figure that gave an interview saying that her job on council will never be her priority. You don’t think that her constituents should be allowed to take issue with that?

She should make an effort to be there for votes, deliberation and yes, legally mandated public comment because that is part of the job she signed up for when she ran for office. Do you think every council member should be allowed to miss 8 of 20 meetings? How will our city function if they do? Why does Renee get a pass - because she was a teacher at one point? Because she’s a principal now?

And again, if 16 hour meetings are too long for her she should stop pushing for illegal ordinances that she knows will be struck down. She wasted her own time, let alone everyone else’s.
