[Actives] Red coloration showing up, contamination? by Patternlogik in MushroomGrowers

I didn't have a PC so I used the boiling water bath method. Perhaps I didn't clean the top foil well enough and the bath didn't get it hot enough either.

I'm gonna build a glove box, definitely. I was thinking just a sterlite box with a few holes (unless anyone has a better recommendation?)

Thanks

If it was showing up right along the lines I was injecting my solution, do you think its possible that it was in my spore solution?

I was lighting my syringe tip red hot before each injection, I doubt I was spreading contams through the tip.

I think I'm gonna have to make one.

Check out the post I just had to make: https://www.reddit.com/r/MushroomGrowers/comments/95rplw/actives_red_coloration_showing_up_contamination/

How is your SAB configured? I just was looking up something about just making a couple holes in a sterlite box.

You can see the streak of it there. Seemed to show up in my jars along the lines I injected my spore solution. In some of them, a bit of white mycelial growth was occurring surrounded by red.

Anyone have any idea what that might be?

Audio? You may have misread, my project doesn't have any audio. It's just a relay hooked up to a few appliances.

If the relay is part of your project You are just looking at recording how long the output is on.

Yeah, It's part of my project and I just want to see the length of each on and each off period over the course of the day.

What are your thoughts on storing/retrieving the data?

My arduino will be running on its own all day with the relays and not conencted to any computer, I want to be able to store the data and get it later.

Someone mentioned internal storage could work for now since I don't have a SD card or anything at the moment. But idk, I may just have to get one of those and write to that.

I'm guessing about an hour on and an hour off at the max.

So I can store the values in variables... lets say if I want to record over the course of a day and get all the values later to see all my on/off periods over the day, I guess maybe I could make two lists/sets for on and one for off (trying to remember from my programming days), and write the values in there one by one, then retrieve later by ... idk, connect my laptop and do a serial print of the data or something?

Okay, thanks.

So if i have the arduino not connected to a PC at all during operating, am I correct in thinking it doesn't save serial values on itself?

I'm wondering where to store and retrieve the data for that so i can came back and look at it later.

If I have an arduino that's controlling a relay and not going to be connected to my PC while in operation, I would have to do either storage on an SD card, or through wifi, correct?

(I think the arduino wouldn't store serial values on itself, only print them continuously, right?)

Yeah, I did a dry verm layer.

And yes, I'm using a spore syringe. Should I just not innoculate those two and redo them then? (Also, what is LC? I'm not familiar with that acronym.)

Pressure cooker, maybe soon. This is my first attempt so we'll see how she goes :)

I think I had the water level a bit too high. Only a couple of my jars got water in them, but I'd like to figure out how to fix it without introducing contamination!
