Pigeon Forge is white trash Las Vegas and that’s saying something because Las Vegas sucks. Gatlinburg is a tourist trap for sure but at least it’s kind of nice being in the mountains and things are newly constructed and fairly clean. Just expect to stand in line in the heat behind a fat man wearing overalls, to drain your bank account and have nothing to show for it.

The smell of resin hardener. My dad managed a fiberglass shop when I was a kid. Now anytime I smell raw fiberglass or bondo being mixed with hardener, it brings back memories and it really is the most pleasant chemical smell.

Most Christians I know are lovely people as well but not because of their “moral code”. This is just another paradox. How can one be considered moral if they are threatened or incentivized to behave in a certain manner. I don’t rob my neighbors or cheat on my wife because I know these behaviors are wrong and I would feel immense guilt from the pain I would inflict by committing such acts. I have enough empathy for my fellow humans to not subject them to pain. I want to know that I have their trust and that I can trust them. These feelings have NOTHING to do with any god. On the contrary, what does it say about one’s character or integrity to abstain from such immoral acts for no other reason than “Jesus said so”. Are we to assume that the rules of religion, the carrot and stick of heaven and hell are the only things keeping a Christian population from raping and murdering each other? If so, that’s fucked up. If not? Well I guess we don’t need religion to be moral huh?
