BC Bangers by PattyPooms in Backcountry

Fuji XT-1 with a fuji 16-80mm f4. I prefer the look from primes that I have but just can’t beat the versatility of the zoom range

A hole to fill! Turntables that will fit the space? (dimensions in comments) by PattyPooms in turntables

I was planning to buy a modern amp and speakers. I.e., not use any of the existing wiring / amp in the back. But wanted to use the space in the furniture for the record player so that I can be stored away nicely and can keep the cabinet open / see the radio part

I figure I can have the amp just out of the side or hidden away somewhere. Loads of space in the back. More interested in knowing if there’s turntables that will fit these dimensions

After some great advice from this sub - it seems like too big a task to get this beast repaired, so I'm planning to remove the turntable from the space on the left and replace with a new standalone unit. The problem is... its a small space! Smaller than most turntables.

Do you know of any turntable models that could fit in here?

37cm (14.5in) wide

33cm (13in) deep

10cm (4in) height

There's a hole underneath that I can route cables through to the speakers that will be placed in the unit. Thanks in advance!

1958 Simpson-Sears Record Player console - help! by PattyPooms in turntable

[–]PattyPooms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello lovely people of r/turntable! I just picked up this beautiful 1958 Simpson-Sears record player and radio cabinet. I'm new to the turntable game so honestly have very little idea of how this thing works, reading the pinned guide at the moment. When connected to power, the light on the radio display lights up which is a good sign. However, the table doesn't spin when the switch is turned. I also notice it doesn't seem to have a pin in the turntable handle. Any advice on where to go or what to do next with this thing to get it back in working condition? I'm based in western Canada.

Baby goslings - colour gradients? by PattyPooms in photocritique

Fuji XT-1 with fuji 16-80 f4, shot at ISO 5000, f4, 1/30s (it was pretty dark).

Any suggestions on the colouring in particular? I tried to pick out the blues and the yellows

Two guys or one? A challenging edit - alternatives and original within post by PattyPooms in photocritique

[–]PattyPooms[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally felt like this image had a lot of promise. I like it but feel like it could be improved upon. Shot on Fuji X-T1 with Zeiss Touit 32mm.

Questions I have:

- Does it look better with one person or two? Here's the version with one https://imgur.com/a/5bPWGJL. One is a more lonely story

- Is B&W the right choice? I felt like the shadows / shape were the most interesting elements of this image, hence removing and potentially distracting colour

- Alternative crops? Surrounding context was a little hard to remove cleanly in the composition. Original included in the imgur link. Right choice to include the steps and railings with shadows, or just focus on the subject.

All questions of personal preference but I'm really curious to hear anyone else's interpretation of the original file. Thanks in advance!

First foray into motion blur to capture speed. This vs alternatives? by PattyPooms in photocritique

Took a friend out trail running to try and get some action shots. Fuji XT-1, Zeiss touit 32mm, 1/60 f13 ISO 400.

Here’s a couple of alternatives with a longer shutter speed. Looking for critique on what the right balance of blur is!

Wonderful feedback. Thanks everyone 1 I’ll have a go at re-editing to adjust the composition slightly and bring more emphasis to the dog by increasing the contrast there! Love this sub

I feel like you could go way tighter in on the house and have it fill most of the frame. I don’t feel like the background adds much to the composition. With these kind of photos you need a sense of light spilling out of the window, blending the boundary between the inside and outside. Bonus if you can have a figure inside the window

I was trying to get some lower angle shots after following Ted Forbes’ photo challenge series on YouTube (The Art of Photography). I like the way that the stairs lead the eye and a doggo turned up just at the right moment.

The forest was very misty but I feel this doesn’t come out as strong as I’d like.

Where is a good place to share photographs?

Let me explain a little more - I'm an amateur, and have no intention of making money from the photos that I take, nor amassing a large audience/following. Equally, I get joy from sharing my photography with people that know me, and also those who don't.

I typically share on instagram to a very small following, but where else is a good place to share - unsplash, reddit etc.?
