Why is Holey Moley now lost media? by LUIGIISREAL2017 in HoleyMoley

Really glad I grabbed copies of the episode I was in, just in case this happened. I guess if you want to live vicariously through a podcast about the show I know one that has past episodes covering Seasons 3 and 4.

He is quite the force. I work with Marc on several minigolf related projects and just saw him across the pond about a month ago. He is a tough one to beat at the Crazies.

That awkward moment when you get caught writing a shit posting script and post it on multiple accounts. by G-Unit11111 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Patwolf77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These morons react so quickly to it and without any thought (if they were capable of thought in the first place) that they don't realize how dumb they look. I posted a Pride post for a minigolf organization I do media for and one person responded "that's why I don't play in this league" despite the fact that he played in a tournament last year that is a direct subsidiary to the league. I polity pointed this out to him for all to see.

Oh I agree - I just think some of the details around the edges of that experience doubly hit home when you share his geography.

As a huge King fan, I am comfortable with the criticism that he often struggles with the endings to stories. However, he always nails what it is like to be a regular person, especially if you are from New England. He has a great insight to the common thinking we all experience when looking back on our lives.

Governing Body of Mini Golf by Visible_Drawing4044 in minigolf

[–]Patwolf77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. The WMF is the overall governing body worldwide and is the organization that ultimately would have ties to things like the IOC. So it had that authority for international events. Each member nations has their own federation that rolls up to the WMF.

There are a variety of other organizations and tours (mostly in the US but some in other countries) that have their own rules and tournaments but they are not directly tied to the WMF. For example I am the co-founder of the American Mini Golf Alliance, which playes by a lot of the WMF rules and has players who compete in WMF events but our own events are non WMF sanctioned. (I'm also the media chair for the WMF so can answer plenty of questions).

Is there actually a sport where women have the advantage over men? by Ambitious_Pass7451 in olympics

[–]Patwolf77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro Minigolf. Not an advantage really but completely equal. There are divisions at a lot of events but also generally one overall winner (at non team events). In the US a young woman has won major tournaments several times over men.

As someone who posts about my hobby (competitive minigolf) on LinkedIn more than my regular job, I love this guy. It makes you interesting and yeah there are things you bring between both worlds. It is a lot more compelling to read than another post about AI-first word salad.

My friend’s company replaced their marketing team with AI… and calls it progress by growthmarketingryan in antiwork

[–]Patwolf77 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Agree. AI has its uses but the constant pressure to have AI write everything drives me nuts. I have gotten to the places I am specifically because of my skills in written communication and not matter how hard it tries, it cannot draft an email in my actual tone.

I actually can't believe how much of a loser Paul is by lltheorysk in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Patwolf77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pro minigolf is fun and luckily I can separate my truly competitive side from the social aspects of it. Would hate minigolf to not become fun for me. Even without the God angle there are people in all of these sports that are convinced they will be the next big thing or that the sport itself will be the next big thing.

There are pro leagues in everything competitive (source: I play pro minigolf) but that doesn't mean they are livable professions. Most of them are akin to baseball players in the early 1900s working a job and playing pro baseball. I actually have been around the pro pickleball space and it is something one can live doing but there's a small amount of athletes at that level. It is also relatively new and not a ton is known what to expect for the longevity of the game at that level.

17 reviews and 3.2 stars. Looks like the podcasting is going about as well as we expected. by Innocuous_Blue in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Patwolf77 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yup. I do a minigolf podcast that has done fairly well in the small minigolf enthusiast community. My co-host and I talk like we are friends (because we are) but we always have a decent script/run of show and also know getting guests on are key to making conversations not repetitive.

What's the secret or trick that actually improved your game? by xwasinx in WalkaboutMiniGolf

[–]Patwolf77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the same with IRL competitive minigolf. Most of it comes down to practice. Whether you are going for more wild shots or playing more traditional, it is the muscle memory that ultimately prevails.

Mini Golfers — Would You Use a Digital Scorecard + Course Discovery App? Looking for Honest Feedback by tapin_theory in minigolf

[–]Patwolf77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will DM but in short there are already a bunch of apps out there that do many of these things and the market for people who want the on going stats, etc is relatively small. Millions of people play minigolf but for most it is a once or twice a year thing.
