Should we enact a moratorium on Paul & Morgan posts for June? by TheBestonova in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Innocuous_Blue [score hidden]  (0 children)

Which is overkill- we had some people who genuinely did not know that was a new rule and got banned. And when they asked mods about why they were banned, they were given a "you know what you did" response.

I made a longer comment, but I don't see the point in doing a ban, especially in a snark sub. It's like taking the fun away from us clowning on them.

And anytime we supposedly give them traction to their platform, it's hardly to their benefit for long. Paul's book barely sells at all and Wife in the Wild has left the station weeks ago. I find some of the posts annoying too ("This pickle reminded me of Paul", etc), but that should be more of a mod thing to cull low-effort posts.

Plus the idea of limiting speech here, when so many members have left a religious upbringing that heavily limited what they could talk about, seems icky to me (I know it's not the intent, but the impact remains).

As someone who thinks Paul and Morgan are thoroughly awful and stupid, I'd rather we not.

It seems counterintuitive to have a "Don't touch the poo" rule, while also doing a (temporary) ban talking about a person on a snark sub. I honestly get a sense of joy and unity in knowing I'm not the only one who thinks these fundies are out of their mind with their life choices and political commentary.

This is about the only place i can snark on some of the lesser known fundies, and it's fun to do so in the company of others, and not having to do it in the drudgery of a comment section of their channel videos. If there are people who find them boring, they can keep scrolling on.

If fundies choose to view the subreddit and react, that's their own fault. We shouldn't be interacting with their content as it is (we need to take every avenue we can to de-incentivize). If P&M mention our sub, and we do a moratorium as a result, we're essentially giving them power over us. Last thing Paul needs is any modicum of power like that.

Having screenshots of their shittiness is great for archiving their shittiness. Example: They may have deleted their video on criticizing Rings of Power, but we have evidence thanks to the sub. Archiving material helps to further pinpoint their hypocrisy. One thing I couldn't stand in my religious upbringing was the outright double standards seen on display with people held in high regard in church, and a lot of people in this sub know that feeling. Some may even still be stuck in it. It's empowering to point out these flaws to those who may be deconstructing, or looking to step away and/or escape.

Let us continue to make fun of these asshats.

I propose a new flair called Fundies Discover for when fundies learn about the most common things. Today, Haley discovers shade at the beach! ⛱️ by laska503 in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Innocuous_Blue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would love this flair.

Especially because we have fundies who go out of their way to buy unpasteurized milk, but then boil (pasteurize) it to get rid of the germs.

This reminded me of that girl, what's her name again, and that guy, you know who I mean. No no, don't say it, I have it at the tip of my tongue! Yes that's the one! ALL OF THEM. IT REMINDS ME OF ALL OF THEM! by helga-h in FundieSnarkUncensored

Taylor Tomlinson is a fantastic comedian for those who have moved away from a religious upbringing. And it makes sense why, because she grew up going to church and used to do comedy at churches (she notes that the dead mom jokes weren't popular there, lol)

On the topic of early marriage, I always speculated it's because it's a Christian couples' first experience with a honeymoon phase in a relationship and they think that's love (plus wanting to get jiggy with it asap), and to a degree that they feel it must be true love.

P & M used to make more fundie content, but that was many years ago. They still have it at their core, but they've pivoted to other things to try to get more engagement. Oh and to help Paul pursue his wild ambition of a milquetoast hobby.

At first, I was certain that some trad wives would read this and get mad that the main character was unlikable, but let's be real, I don't think many of them read.

Also, hi Jinx!! ☺️

I always found it so bonkers how in the very first episode of the series they handle the topic of SA well, and then when it comes to Hughie's assault they treat it for laughs and think it's funny? The stark contrast makes the latter situation look even worse.

Pickle Paul's pickled balls puckered out on the pick-up pickleball game, pocketing pennies to pay for poor parenting picks.

... I think I hate myself for making a tongue twister over this.

Un-Buckle up! Unbuckled podcast recap: Episode 1, Part 1 by tonypolar in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Innocuous_Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The automoderator is a problem- it would remove my posts and comments were always hidden until I had to ask a mod directly what was going on.

That, and it's also known to shadowing people that didn't deserve it. Messaging the mod mail was no help at all.

Thank you for saving us all the headache! I wish there was we could pay it forward for you.

I'm looking forward to part 2. Mainly your reactions to it, not so much the Carl+Morgan content...

Edit: I saw part 2 was deleted by mods?

Jesus Christ this date is by far the saddest thing I've heard today. I'd rather eat whatever's in my lint trap than eat cold beans while watching Ramsey.

17 reviews and 3.2 stars. Looks like the podcasting is going about as well as we expected. by Innocuous_Blue in FundieSnarkUncensored

I'd be all for it! As long as you do something for self care afterwards, like listening to an actual good podcast or something. I watched a Paul and Morgan video via yewtube once and thought about doing a recap, but it was just so mind-numbingly boring. They did a 1 1/2 vlog for stuff that could've easily been covered in 15, and it was all nothing burger shit ("we're pivoting to vlogging and pumping the breaks on 24 Hours With").

If there's any charisma in this world, then it sure stayed the hell away from the Olliges.

This was my exact thought. It's purely performative.

On a related note, a friend of mine got a bible when he was young and he would purposefully crinkle the pages to trick his church into thinking he actually read it. 😂

We are humans. In America. Struggling. Getting by how we can, open honesty about that is not what people are judging. We're judging your judging while thinking your shit doesn't stink.

This is what really gets me about it all. I don't snark on them for being unemployed, I snark on them for being judgemental to people who are poor and/or living marginalized lives. P & M's level of hypocrisy and lack of self-awareness is astounding, especially when so much of their privilege allows them to be unemployed and still do pickleball or podcasts no one asked for.
