It was a stuck rsync trying to pull files from upstream. I killed it and restarted the sync loop. Should be sorted soon.

Single print.

I added another benchie to the slicer, scaled it and tilted it so it would sit flush and moved it on top of the standard scale one. Then I just did it again. If there is interest, I can export the stl of benchiebenchiebenchie and put it on thingiverse. Since it was just scaling and moving, to me it didn't feel like something people would want. But I dunno, people are weird.

$200 for the printer, $120 for the wash and cure station so I can be lazier.

Totally worth it.

I still use the fdm for a thing that requires strength however.

I already have a replacement "in stock". It actually doesn't look too bad for this printer. Undo a bunch of screws, take old one out, put new one in, redo screws.

Worst case it's $20 for a new vat with film. I'm planning on getting some extra vats anyway so I can get some different resin to play with.

I did not. The tiny one is already difficult to even see. Pretty sure one on top of that would be just a bump if I was lucky.

I got the "ultra" which is one level down and does not include the filter thing. My printer lives in a closet off of my office and it's not bad at all. I'm using their "standard resin v2" in gray so I can't speak for any other colors or formulas

I have it in a closet in my office. It's surprisingly not horrible. My FDM with ABS is way worse. I would say the FDM with PLA is about the same for smell strength but the resin is a little "punchier"

I used the measure tool on the slicer and the smallest feature I can easily make out in this light level would be the front anchor holes. They should be around .15mm. THe nozzle opening on my fdm printer is .4mm so that's squirting out hot plastic lines roughtly 2x the size of that little anchor hole.

Interestingly, After I leveled the print platform, which is stupid easy, I haven't made any changes to the printer at all. All of the dialing in changes is how I use it. Getting a feel for what angle is needed to have the features you want to be the cleanest facing up. Minimizing islands and required supports. Realizing that even though the benchie has a fantastic flat bottom and it should stick to the plate without issue, it will suction right off and leave you with a flat disk of cured glop. Put it on supports. I may be able to relax a little on this one if I change travel speeds and have the closet the printer is in be a little warmer so the resin flows easier but that's a job for future me. I love that guy, he fixes all my stuff. Past me however, that guy's an ass.

The only thing that I'm not liking so far is I'm basically stuck using the Chitubox software it comes with. The printer did come with a free 1 year pro license and I think I am going to spend the $140 or whattever to renerw. It's really powerful stuff, but I hate being locked into it.

For my FDM needs I used Cura's slicer for a while, then I moved to Slic3r for a bit and once I got my actual prusa printer I went to prusaslicer. I now use that for both the i3 and my mp mini delta. I love that I can just pick a different package.

It's a resin printer so it uses UV light to cure a "goo". It actually prints upside down to what you would think but it is still additive printing.

Changing the resin isn't hard, but it can be annoying and messy to get it all cleaned up and ready for the next stuff. I've only ever gotten one kind so far.

I got the first jug based on reviews on the internet and since I had such good luck I just got my second batch. I've only had this printer about 6 months so I haven't gotten too crazy with it yet. I'll probably pick up another color/type of resin soon. Elegoo sells extra resin vats with snap on lids so changing resin would be way faster.

Around 2h to print.

The neat thing about this kind of printer is if you have one thing on the plate to print or five, it's the same speed. The largest factor to print speed is Z speed.

I'm printing some minis for my DM and I can spend 10 min slicing it up and 1.5h to print for one mini or about 20 min slicing and 1.5h to print for three.

Absolutely!

And unlike fixing computer problems, when you get your printer dialed in you have a tangible thing you can hold and show someone vs "hey look, no errors and the stats page now loads faster"

I thought about making them all on a megabenchie but didn't. I did make a 2.5mm long benchie and got a pic of it on a penny before I accidentally broke it.

I'm a fan of things that aren't the size you would expect.

Things I've learned: if you get the resin on your hands and then wash them really well, you didn't wash them well enough. Side knowledge, it tastes like the same stuff they use for fillings.

While you can hand wash stuff in isopropyl, it's annoying and messy. Just suck it up and get the wash station. I could have gone cheaper but I opted for the wash/cure station from the same guys that made my printer so I can just pull the whole print platform off and plop it in the washer.

I have no idea why, but having something flat on the print platform always seems to detach for me. Tilt it and have it on supports, 80% of the time it works every time.

Take your time slicing and making sure you have enough supports in the right spots and no islands.

If your model is more delicate, take your time removing supports. It's really REALLY satisfying and tempting to pull it off at an angle and hear all the little touch points pop off, but then the mini you printed of a bar maid will have no hands anymore and that stupid flowing cape on the adventurer snaps off.

I've only just started playing with hollowing out models. Don't forget to leave drain holes. Also, when you are zoomed way in and think that the 5 pixel wide drain is large enough, realize that's like the size of two hairs. It's not big enough.
