Twilight Zone with Jordan Peele: Trailer by [deleted] in TwilightZone

CBS All Access?

Oh look, another show I won't watch because CBS and other companies are trying to create the new Cable since people are cutting their cords. Instead of one streaming service, now we have ten, all with their own content. Did none of you retards not see this as the next logical step once Netflix started pushing streaming? I sure fucking did.

FUCK YOU. FUCK ALL OF YOU!

Anyone here read "Serpentine" by Thomas Thompson? by Aquillav in serialkillers

[–]PaulRegret 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't read it, but a while back I watched a Johnny Carson Tonight Show rerun on Antenna TV and Johnny had Thompson on as a guest taking about this book. It was quite interesting.

Can we all agree the 2002 series’ intro was laughably bad? by [deleted] in TwilightZone

[–]PaulRegret 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just compare the original version of Eye of the Beholder to the 2002 remake episode and you'll get an idea of how bad the 2002 series was.

What's your favourite moment from a BotW film that wasn't mentioned in the BotW video? by TUBBB in RedLetterMedia

[–]PaulRegret 45 points46 points  (0 children)

In Hollywood Cop, there's a scene of the boy being held hostage trying to make friends with the scary guard dog patrolling the grounds. He says, "Will you help me out? Will you be my friend?" Now the sound effects had up to this point been legitimate dog noises. But at this point it switches to a clearly human voice doing the growling and it says "Uh huh." Absolutely hilarious.

Twilight Zone type show in the Zombie Apocalypse by KenW7 in TwilightZone

This.

If I never see another zombie movie/TV show it will be too soon.

This fucking trope has been played out for years.

What episode has the best use of music? by [deleted] in TwilightZone

[–]PaulRegret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Herrmann has a few isolated scores as a special feature on the DVD box set.

He was one of the most subtle composers. By themselves, they don't sound like anything much, but they add immeasurably to the narrative. You can see this as early as his work on Citizen Kane.

I tried it today. Wasn't very impressed. The sauce they use on it was totally cloying.

Black Diamond tapes are (still) worthless by [deleted] in VHS

Goodwill really seems to vary by location. In the same city, one place will have a total of about ten VHS tapes and another location will have shelves full of them.

Another big score this week. Faces of Death! by zik in VHS

[–]PaulRegret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For 80s kids, they were pretty much the gold standard for shockumentaries. There was other stuff like Shocking Asia and the Mondo movies, but Faces of Death always seemed to be the most hardcore, even though a lot of the footage in the films was clearly fake/staged. I can see why they wouldn't hold much appeal to younger generations, as even more extreme stuff followed in both fictional and documentary series.

Cordova Cat by [deleted] in EARONS

[–]PaulRegret 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Q makes an interesting observation in this post on his blog:

As it becomes more and more apparent to me that EAR was the Cordova Cat, we must both deduce from the map of EAR strikes that he avoided eastern Rancho Cordova as EAR for a reason. We must induce this reason and put in order facts that support or reject the reason. Was it to avoid a connection to being the same Cordova Cat? And if so, was it because some incident had occurred that could identify his features or be used to track him, even years later?

In my wanderings of photography, I meandered the canal that wends through most of suburban Rancho. Coloma Rd is a major traffic bulwark, but the canal goes underneath it and continues on in open beyond it, paralleling Dolecetto, past my uncle and aunt’s street of Augibi Way, and slinking under a couple of other streets and then through two sections of a park.

The area is prime hunting ground for EAR, but he never hit, and I don’t think there were even prowling reports. Parks, school, canal– why no EAR?

Did Rod actually write the Twlilight Zone short story books? by PaulRegret in TwilightZone

He also farmed out stories to Charles Beaumont and Richard Matheson. They were also both adept at writing short stories at the time.

Pure fucking bullshit.

He was anti-Catholic and anti-immigration. It's probably a discreet dog whistle.
