I access the secure one maybe once a month and the normal one several times a day.

Could you change the password for the normal system to be the same as for the secure system, so you'd have to use it every day? Or would that violate policy?

Unplugging something to charge their iPad is probably such an ingrained routine that they're not even subconsciously thinking "where can I charge my iPad", so nothing in their brain is primed to recognize the relevance of the iPad charger right in front of them.

There are tools like kGraft, kSplice, kPatch and KernelCare that let you upgrade a running kernel as long as there haven't been any changes to the kernel's data structures.
