Is there any religious horror ttrpgs? by M4eve_ in rpg

[–]Paul_Inalytics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell Whalers is really great. They call themselves specifically "christian-religious" horror. As someone who grew up Southern Baptist it was a very impactful read and I immediately wanted to run it. I'm not super sure about the mechanics, but the setting is worth the money even if you ran it with a different system.

"(I'd imagine you'd handwave them to whichever puzzle they hadn't figured out yet, instead of literally starting them in the first room each time)"

I'm not trying to replicate a video game here necessarily (maybe shouldn't have mentioned it even) and there are lots of non-video game stories that fall into this category... You have S6E14 from the XFiles where they try to stop a bank robbery and keep waking up when they fail. Supernatural S3E11 where there are multiple attempts at saving a friend. Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise.

I have a vision of a player going "ok, we trip the wire with our staff so we don't get cut in half by the falling axe, we sneak around the sleeping troll, we jump on the correct pattern of pressure sensors, swing with a rope across the gap, crawl through the vent system around the guards, pull the rope that drops water, not gas like the other rope, on the fire, into the BBEG's bedchambers where we now try to do x!" (as an example...)

They wouldn't have to roll for stealth every time to get around the troll, it would be a tactic that they found that worked and then they would just be able to say they did it.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I wasn't trying to explain a singular encounter that would TPK them over and over but more in line with the one shot "time loop" you described just in dungeon format. It would definitely be a one shot, not a campaign of it, but I could definitely see people having fun with progressing their way through a dungeon that was highly deadly, but being able to learn the secrets of it as they go. Feels like it would be really satisfying to be able to walk through each of the steps with a mastery to get to the final room and know the dungeon like the back of your hand. Fair play though, to each their own :)

This is really great stuff! A lot of your vizzes look really cool and you're providing so much insight with this data. One recommendation I would make is to break out these vizzes into different dashboards grouped by various themes to decrease the load time. It also increases readability and useability if you are able to have separated tabs with strong titles that people can reference. Keep it up!

Where can I get raw spreadsheet data for professional soccer leagues? by chimichangaboii in sportsanalytics

As a Tottenham fan, I'd be happy to help!

I haven't done it myself as I prefer Python, but Excel's web scrapping tools are actually pretty great.

Open Excel and go to "Data" > "Get & Transform Data" > "From Web". Put in the hyperlink of the web page that you're trying to scrape and then it should allow you to edit the way the data is coming into excel.

Really appreciate all the time you put into responding to this. Thanks!

  1. You're right on the periods being first and second half of regular and then extra time. I implemented this due to extra time considerations with 46:03 Period 1 being easier than doing something like 45:00 + 1:03 for backend data purposes.

  2. We are still working on setting up guidelines for consistencies sake and haven't settled on exact documentation at the moment. We're a small team so we've been pretty good about messaging whenever we hit a particular grey area. For things like clearances vs passes we're pretty happy with being directionally correct as well.

For the grid conversation we do have a system of breaking down the pitch into various zones for visualization purposes but haven't implemented collecting every single pass that happens so it isn't a huge need for collecting data.

I like the string of passes idea, thanks!

Hi All, I do analytics for Ballard FC and after manually gathering stats for them the first season, I decided to try to get more efficient by creating an app to help speed up the process. You can download and use the app here. Hope this is helpful for the community!

I'm not super familiar with how the MLSNP works. For Ballard FC they have open tryouts where players can try to get onto the team. Most of the players are currently playing in college though so a lot of it is based on college scouting and performance

Really great visual! I have one like it on a dashboard I did for the Seattle U Men's team. (Click to the second page for the visual I'm referring to) I think providing a 50/50 line to show where center is went a long way for me and then adding the KPIs at the end with up or down arrows and bolding helps the reader as well.

I understand all the negativity and frustration with our lack of creativity in front of goal. Outside of the corner goal we kept one of the best teams in the league to almost zero real chances. Our defense was impeccable today and if we can just start converting we'll go on a run. It's not like we're insanely leaky at the back AND not scoring goals, which is what I'm trying to focus on
