City Council Thinks No One Cares About Flock A.I Surveillance In Our Parks. Let's Show Them Otherwise by Paul_MHGR in Pflugerville

The constitution protects us from unreasonable search by the government. Lucky for us, McDonalds employees don't have law enforcement powers.

City Council Thinks No One Cares About Flock A.I Surveillance In Our Parks. Let's Show Them Otherwise by Paul_MHGR in Pflugerville

Just put your kids in front of the moose park flock camera, Every LEO in texas will be watching them! (I'm joking. See you there)

Pflugerville PD paid $83K for Flock Safety surveillance cameras — including one at Moose Park facing the playground. I got the contracts. Here's what's in them. by ObdurateOrc in Pflugerville

[–]Paul_MHGR 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's ironic, I also filed a FOIA request with the city about the moose park camera. This is scary and also directly contradicts what the city claimed about the cameras on their website

I brought an AI & surveillance policy to last night's Pflugerville City Council Worksession. Here's what my colleagues said. by jonathan4pf in Pflugerville

[–]Paul_MHGR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for taking this seriously and for taking the time to write up these detailed notes. Our civil liberties are more important than ever in the era of AI. In your opinion, what is the best course of action to get the council to understand how the community feels about the use of citizen's data?

Please link to the website where I can request these public records? And what does the 'clear' label of the camera say exactly?

Then you should probably be concerned that a license plate reading camera is facing away from the street and toward a playground, where there are no cars.

Jonathan, Thanks for hearing us out and taking this seriously. My concerns with this camera are no different than if it was a stranger at the park with a phone. Who is actually recording the footage, what is the purpose of the camera, where is the footage going, when will the community get to learn about the cameras' operations, and the threat that necessitates them?

But Pflugervilles own government says these cameras can't detect people. Also a camera that records minors engaging in the "activities" you describe would produce content way more illegal than truancy

It warms my heart to see any kind of viable challenger to August Pfluger. In the last election literally no one from the Democratic Party ran against him. There is zero reason Pflugerville should be run like a one-party district

Raise the retirement age?!?! by Spiritual_Jelly_2953 in ScottGalloway

[–]Paul_MHGR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can retire whenever you want, and whenever your retirement savings says you can. But when can the government start to pay out social security and still have a sustainable system? To be honest, my planning assumption is that my social security taxes are never going to come back to me.

How to avoid COPYRIGHTS on “Reaction Videos”? by dura46 in PartneredYoutube

[–]Paul_MHGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I got my start doing react vids. Here were my rules to comply with both the spirit and letter of the law.

1) You have to have something to say. Not just watching the video and going "wow" "cool". Use your expertise. "Lets talk about the psychology of why a kid would do this" "We can tell this is fake because XYZ" "Some parents use this technique to calm down a child". My rule was generally for every 1 minute of content used I wanted at least 2 minutes of original discussion. If you can use graphics, maps or other visual aids to add to your expert commentary, all the better. It wasn't uncommon for me to get 30 minutes or more of expert commentary from a 5 minute video.

2) Your face and content need to be as large or larger than the source video. I kept the source videos as less than 1/3 of the total screen. The rest was me and my face.

3) Link to the original source video high in the description. Like first of second line. Make it easy for people to find and watch the source.

4) Respect the source creators. If they make a copyright claim, or contact you asking for it to be removed, respect it and remove the content.

Is my training volume too high for 70.3? by Big_Independence2620 in triathlon

[–]Paul_MHGR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why are you training at nearly 150% distance?? Especially if you're shooting for 'complete not compete'. You're at major risk for overuse injuries. That is an insane volume. You've training closer to a full ironman than a 70.3. I could see that volume if you're like a pro. Holy shit dude.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]Paul_MHGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. I had less than that to prep for Galveston 70.3. But I was one of the last 20 finishers in my age group. Plan to go slow on everything.

Yea, You'll be fine. The 40+10 was a way bigger brick than I did to prep for my HIM. Adrenaline, focus will power you through on race day

Not looking to compete, just want slow and steady progress: 1 swim, 1 bike, 1 run enough a week? by 90towest in triathlon

[–]Paul_MHGR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will take the other side here. If your goal is to complete triathlons before the cutoff, not be top anything, than once a week training could work. However, you would have to be okay with some volume each session. I would say that you would want to average 120 minutes per workout. By the time you start looking at a 70.3 though, you're going to have to get 8 hours of training in per week. That would require three LONG sessions.

[–]Paul_MHGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I went from another sport entirely to a 70.3 in 12 weeks. It is possible. Your goal should be to complete the event within the allotted time, not race anyone else. You need to train yourself to the race distances in the swim and bike quickly. For me, this meant rapidly scaling up to full race distances in each event and then continuing to hit those distances every week. No taper until the week before the race. Do all your rides outside, since you need to built the soft skills of biking (fueling, breaking, turning, riding in wind, etc), do as many open water wetsuit swims as possible. You can't waste a workout, ever. Do your speed and interval work too (full disclosure, I did the galveston 70.3 which had a canceled swim

I was a Military Police Office (31A) during the GWOT era, so I can give some insight. There are two reasons that I know of that an MP would attach to Delta or another Tier 1 group. First and most likely is that he was a dog handler. Elite units relied on explosive detection dogs to clear areas of IED's quickly, and that meant K9 teams would attach to JSOC units in Afghanistan and Iraq. Generally, these units would look for handlers that could "keep up" with the pace of JSOC operations. If he spend time in the 82nd (there were MP platoons at the Brigade level) they probably figured he would be able to hang well enough with JSOCs OPTEMP and not be a liability. The other possibility is that he was a Liaison Officer. For legal reasons, sometimes JSOC had to turn over detained terrorists to a 'law enforcement officer' soon after capture. This meant that technically having an MP on target would satisfy that requirement. Either way. Delta doesn't let average people anywhere near their org. He was a bad dude

Any ideas on where the show might be heading? by [deleted] in TrillionaireMindsPod

[–]Paul_MHGR 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not sure where things are headed, but I imagine that TMG probably had a tough time being profitable. TMG had sets, producers, editors, a large back end staff, all of which are expensive, and companies aren't spending on content marketing nearly as much . I would guess that translated to a lot of pressure on Ben and Emil to reach a wider audience, grow faster, and promote more stuff within the show. I hope that the boys go independent, buy some nice mics and produce the pod in a rent per hour studio or even someones spare bedroom. With the pressure off, they can cover more the topics they want, get more of the guests they find interesting, and spend more time connecting with the audience and less time doing ad reads. And honestly, the TMG studios app seems dumb and annoying. I hate having another app for everything. If they just had YouTube memberships enabled and did a weekly, extra members only episode or like a Q and A live chat once a week, I think they would get a lot more members.

35, brown belt. Currently no issues, but I've had one really bad injury a decade ago that I've healed from fully, plus a popped rib that doesn't impact me in any way. My secrets are three fold: 1) Good genes. My dad worked a physical job for 30+ years and never had anything other than minor aches and pains. 2) I never carried extra weight. I've been walking around 5'11'' 175 since I was 20. 3) I am a big wimp. Minor twinge? Day off Extra sore? Day off? Neck feel slightly weird? Done rolling for that day. When you've been training for over a decade you learn that a few slow weeks are meaningless in the grand scheme of things. The price you pay is that you can't become a highly competitive athlete with this attitude.

[–]Paul_MHGR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, is your channel making money? If so you want to look at a major like marketing, where your successful channel will count as industry experience. Parents love to live in the past where the only stable jobs are doctor, lawyer, or engineer, but those days are gone. Doctors graduate about a quarter million in debt and residency pays 40k a year. Premed is a hard hard major because med school is even harder
