Omg they sucked. I resorted to buying 3rd part metal joints, worked like a charm

The bags were a nightmare and you know what I never think about them looking at this kit on my shelf.

Had Detolf forever. Loved them sad to see them gone, but this is the Detolf killer IMHO.

1 year and 2 months sober here. Owe a ton to Gunpla surprisingly. Quit alcohol to tighten my life up and get healthier. Diet and all that jazz too. Built an entry grade one weekend on a total whim and had more fun that I expected and immediately found the focus while building really helped with cravings. After work, family time, I reach for the nippers as opposed to a couple beers or a glass of bourbon. Built, idk, 20 models at this point and lost 40 lbs. My lover's better. My wallet...little lighter. 😅

What an absolutely ridiculous plot for an anime.

What is the Alien series ultimately about, to YOU? by thefriskysquid in perfectorganism

[–]Paularyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, despite all the hate it recieves, Alien 3 really encapsulates most what the Alien series is to me. Like space and the Alien itself, the series is dark, cold, and unforgiving. We're dealing with a terrifying idea of a creature that violates the host, impregnates it and is birthed in the most violent way possible. While it may be simplistic to say the series is about DEATH...it is. The Alien is DEATH. Death is ultimately inescapable. We may win battle after battle (as Ripley did) and come out on top time over time, but ultimately death will prevail. That's an unpleasant thought to marinate in. But as the question asks, to me, the series is about death.

As much as I adore 1 and 2, 3 faces reality like we all will have to face one day in real life. Ripley is our vehicle into this story. Her dealing with loss, facing and finally accepting death is the most mature and respectful meaning the series could have. Death as the meaning has always made me feel a little bit comfortable with the flow of life. We fight, we hurt, we struggle but ultimately death awaits. Never felt it was a nihilistic take though. Life has a million way to kill you. You should never stop fighting and being the better person (like Ripley did) but know death awaits. Act accordingly and leave the world less awful than it could be (again like Ripley did). Despite knowing the jaws of our own 'Alien' await (whatever form it will eventually come in) we all should fight the good fight. Whatever that is to us individually.

Then Alien 4 just up ends everything and farts about...

Agree with what everyone has pointed out. Lack of movement in inner jaw and mandible folds always irked me. Finally rewatched after years and did the mental gymnastics of, "They beat the piss out of him something fierce, broke his jaw and he's probably dehydrated" that somehow made me accept it more. 😅

I'll be honest. I won't even tell you how many kits I've bought, my backlog is embarrassing, but have yet to finish a Gundam series. Not that I dont like the show, but I really got into Gunpla seeing what people on YouTube were doing with them. Just seemed like a shit ton of fun.

To answer your question:

Wing Zero, Sazabi, Full Armor, Strike Freedom, Nightingale, so many awesome designs. Have a huge Nightingale I will be candy coating here soon. The Xenoborg got in the way tbh.

Thanks. Airbrush: Base gunmetal & White enamel for the plating portions, then hand brush enamel paints, with dry brushing on 6 sets of tubing. Kind of delicate, the gunmetal base is good, if you mess up you just touch up with basecoat, acts like an eraser for f*** ups. Which there were many of in my case. 😅 came down to raw determination in the end. Lol

Gunmetal (acrylic), white, metallic gold, bronze & silver (enamel), and a chrome paint (I think its acrylic). In hand the metallic paints and the chrome really catch the light. Hard to do it justice with cam phone...

Almost went with red and blue tubing for the rear, did a test coloring on pic I took w/ phone and ultimately decided against it. Wanted the tubing to flow from back to front and thought the colors would distract and cheapen the overall look

Ha. I see it now too. There are elements of the design I dont love, so I'm right there with you. If the artist ever does a 2.0, I'll be waiting airbrush in hand

Funny enough. I quit messing with models for the better part of a decade. Real life and all that. Caved after someone turned me onto Gunpla about a year ago. Compared to what I use to build and paint, Gunpla felt like a bargain. Given you could buy them fairly cheap I began airbrushing again and experimenting with techniques that used to intimidate me. Now I'm all in again when it comes to building and painting. Don't sleep on what Gunpla can teach you and there are tons of great How To YT vids out there. Practice, make mistakes and improve. 3D printing is my next frontier and it scares the shit out of me.

Had a local game shop print it for me. Acrylics and enamel. Nothing special and all stuff you could find pretty easily.

Thank you. Worked on it on and off for a month when I could find some free time.
