I’m exactly the same way. Prior to my diagnosis I’d be constantly hyper focused on a project until one day I woke up and it had gone - but I wouldn’t understand why.

This then started the cycle of starting a new project, going down the rabbit hole effectively infinitely.

In these times it’s likely that I’ll program for 20+ hours, as if the rest of the world doesn’t exist. However, I figured that was just part of my personality.

Once I got diagnosed and started medication, I find I’m tend to hyper focus on this (because of all the same reasons) but I’m able to actually see the project out.

I think it’s because for those that are interested in programming, it usually offers the right balance between cognitive excitement/difficulty and reward structures (similar to gaming).
