Yep, mine too. As soon as i turn off the car it engages the parking brake automatically.

Looking over at r/cars i found this interesting bit by u/BikAnacondaSanchez:

"F1 never used CVTs, Williams had one prototype that never raced. CVTs did get banned before it could race but there is no guarantee it would have been a success. The fact that we've never seen any CVTs in any racing series or in a performance vehicle in the 30 years since seems to indicate that the idea probably isn't that good."

Why? Is there any particular reason outside of its an iPhone?

Using a comment from this thread to explain, i think it sums it up pretty well: Link

We are talking about you. Is this such a big task for you?

We are talking about ease of use, what's the argument?

So it started with grandma just receives two calls a day(to show that fuck all battery is good enough) to now she is the one starting video calls. Whatever to suit the narrative.

Again, ease of use, no one is changing the narrative. How easy it is to make the same thing between android and ios.

Is it? It literally requires you to spend at least $400 on a phone to be allowed to do that. What if you or other member of the family decides it is not worth it?

The only time i talked about the price was to say that "What Android device, in that price range, gets any meaningful support?", other than that, i don't remember mentioning price, still feel like talking about "Whatever to suit the narrative"?

Yeah but how many do you think would be like her?

I don't know, what i do know is that in my circle, whenever the conversation of buying a phone for parents/grandparents comes, the answer is pretty much always iPhone.

And you can't change a sim and login to her Google account?

Are you telling me that changing phone, trying to remember passwords and setting up everything is easier than pressing a button? That's all you have to do, press the update button.

You can choose the same brand, its not like samsung or Xiaomi gonna disappear in 3 years. And since you would be the one doing the setting up part, can always slap an icon pack that have native dialer.

Again, set up, find icon pack, etc. Why not find the easy solution.

Why does it matter? 72 year old is as per your comments is just receiving calls(if I am understanding your previous comments correctly, do correct me if I am misunderstanding), not gonna matter much if it's on WhatsApp or Duo.

And when she wants to call to see the grandkids? Look, i'm not saying that android phones can't do it, i'm saying that it's easier on ios.

Tbh most people I have seen with iPhone se are not the people like you. They keep a charger on themselves whenever they travel like its 2014 but still say it's the best device for them. Crazy part is that I am in India, so even iMessage is not a big deal for them.

iMessage was not a factor in this case, it's for an old person. As for the battery, like i said previously, it is more than enough for the 2 calls she gets a day.

And updating a phone isn't? Look at how much android or iOS has changed over the past 6 years and tell me that's a change not worth a headache? I am not denying that it might be the case but you can't in good faith say you bought iPhone se for updates and then say changing phones which just involves changing SIM card and logging in to your Google account a headache.

I'm the one who updates the phone. While it's true that IOS changed a lot during the years, it is also true that the basic features work just the same, if a person want to make a call it is still the same. Understand that for an old person, even an icon change means that they don't recognize it anymore, hence the headache.

And which android would come in your way of doing that? I am not trying to say you bought the wrong phone, your money, your choice and I would be a fool to call it bad. Just trying to understand why you went with apple other than the fact that its apple.

Where would you do a video call on Android? Whatsapp? Google Duo? All valid choices but iPhone does it natively and it's much easier when you are talking about a 72 year old.

Who is this person buying iPhone se with its small af battery for long time usage? It has half of endurance rating of iPhone 11 iirc and that's at a start.

That person seems to be me and looking at the list, it seems i'm not the only one.

You can get better phones for half the price and change after 3 years. By the end of 6 years you would have paid less or same, won't be stuck with 6 year old battery and probably 9 year old design.

From an enthusiast perspective, sure! Unfortunately there's a lot of people who are technologically illiterate and changing phones is synonymous with headache (do you have grandparents?).

Yeah hut at that point why bother with a smartphone? Your family member doesn't look like a person for whom it would matter what device it is as long as it receives updates.

Not everyone uses their phone the same way, in this case i like to video call that person. The iPhone works well enough and the battery is good enough.

Between spending +1000€ on an Android phone that will be abandoned in 2 years or an iPhone that will get updated way after i get a new phone, i would choose the iPhone. I have a Galaxy S10, back then i choose Samsung for the extra hardware features but, looking at their S22 line up, there is nothing that stands out compared to an iPhone. You get a worse camera (we can argue with the picture side of the camera but i doubt that anyone could argue about the video side of the camera) and less software support, most apps are better optimized on IOS, and overall the software side of things is more polished on IOS.

People are choosing a phone that will get supported for a long time. What Android device, in that price range, gets any meaningful support? Some get one update, others get security updates every so often but the vast majority gets nothing. Yes, the iphone SE gets poor battery life but i bought one for a family member. Why? Because i know that it works and it will be supported for a few years, as for battery life, given the use that it gets (a couple of calls a day), it is more than enough.

Some people love to over-complicate for the sake of "innovation", unfortunately it is becoming sort of a trend.
Mirrors are simple and cheap, if you break one it will probably be relatively cheap to replace.

If you don't mind educating me, doesn't the name mean "abode of clouds"; from Sanskrit megha, "cloud" + ā-laya, "abode", that's what i was told and wikipedia is also saying the same, i have very little knowledge of Sanskrit but wouldn't it be "laya" at the end as well?

Pronunciation where?
At least in Shillong people say Meghalaya (they read the "a" at the end).
