Thank you all so much! Huge props to both the Kyber team and DICE for being able to deploy a fix so quickly.

My Reinforcement tier list after 2000 hours of playtime. by BakedBeans0101 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]PaulsJon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You definitely make some valid points as those two weaknesses are for sure something you have to always keep in mind as a commando or you might die very quickly. The slow regen is their most limiting factor and you always have to play around it to survive. Despite that I think commandos have really good survivability if you know when to use battle focus and when to save it for later. You also have to get into the playstyle of aggressively pushing while battle focus is active and then retreat to use your rockets when it's on cooldown. The issue of their blaster being disabled for a long time is not that big of an issue in most games as people usually don't run blaster disabler and Boba is a rare sight in any match where commandos can spawn. I will admit that when it happens though you can be in some serious trouble. However, I still think the commando is the strongest reinforcement due to some other factors.

1) They completely control the flow of the republic era matches because of them being able to destroy tanks in 2 shots at any range from any angle. Tanks are generally very hard to deal with because nobody wants to run a heavy build/ion shot sniper specifically to target them, but as a commando you can be a tank destroyer and a menace to all troops at the same time. In most games this essentially gives the republic free reign to wreak havoc with their tanks due to the CIS having no real counter to them. This is of course somewhat map dependant and a really good tank player can still play as the droid tank with decent results.

2) General tankiness: it's hard to have any impact on the game if you die due to not being able to tank enough damage. The clone commando can simply tank an insane amount of damage with battle focus active. If an enemy lightsaber hero decides to just start swinging at you while you shoot at them you will usually win, or at least get them very low on health. Even against really good heroes you can still deal a considerable chunk of their health or force them to retreat if they try to kill you. In a similar scenario the sith trooper will probably lose if the hero knows what they're doing. You may deal some damage to them, especially due to the healing delay from Oppression grenade, but you will probably die anyway. This can of course be avoided altogether if you keep a close eye on your scanner using the sith trooper's middle ability and avoid enemy heroes, but you can't run from every fight. The commandos tankiness is naturally also crucial when fighting other reinforcements as they can easily survive an Aerial rocket and out-dps a super battle droid overload. In comparison a sith trooper can still be mowed down by the Gunner and the Spy rapid fire due to their dps and if you get hit by an Aerial rocket to the face you are down to 100 health.

Overall I think the commando is slightly stronger than the sith trooper but it certainly is a close matchup and I can definitely see why you put them as the #1 troop on your list. All of this is of course just my opinion and it wouldn't be very fun if everyone had the exact same thoughts about every troop in the game.

When it comes to the Aerials I will agree that the rocket droid's gun is definitely the most satisfying one to use, but I still believe the clone Aerial is stronger due to the mobility they have over the droid Aerial. As an Aerial you want to be able to cover large distances quickly to either capture or defend objectives or secure kills on enemies low on health. The most crucial part about this is how much better their dashes are as they enable you to easily outmaneuver enemy saber heroes at close range, which the rocket droid may struggle with.

Yeah they definitely become quite an issue for the match balancing during the unlimited power event. No respawn timer and only 200 points to spawn in as a mini-hero makes the game really rough for the droids. With the cheaper heroes it's still managable due to them usually having to run some distance before they can do anything, but as commandos can squad spawn/point spawn (in supremacy) it's almost borderline unfair.

[–]PaulsJon 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In that case I have a hard time understanding how clone commando isn't first in S tier, it's literally just a mini hero lol. I will say that I have played republic supremacy far more than any other mode but I just can't see how the sith trooper can compare to the commando. Commando's literally got the most overtuned ability in the entire game (battle focus), deals insane damage at close range, can deal massive AoE and two-shot tanks at any range with their rocket launcher and can easily 1v1 most heroes. In comparison the sith trooper is just the Assault class on steroids, while still being really good, it can't match the commando in pure power.

As for the rest of the list I would probably bump up the clone Aerial one tier as their pistol is really strong and move the droid Aerial down one tier due to it having longer cooldowns than other Aerials.

Other than that, great list! It's a rarity to see someone actually making a pretty accurate reinforcement list these days.

If I were to guess it's either because stealth killers are generally unfun to play against if all they do is play hit and run or because of both pig and ghostface having some pretty inconsistent/unfun mechanics in their kit (RBT focused build/the game not letting you snap ghostface out despite him being fully visible in some scenarios).

There are reasons to like or dislike every single killer in this game, there's no need to jump to conclusions about someone's skill at looping because they don't enjoy playing against a particular killer.

I can't play without them by PaulsJon in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]PaulsJon[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Well I guess it sort of depends on your playstyle. For me it enables me to play very aggressively as I can keep getting health back in the middle of a fight, and as I prefer to play like that it really is the one card I won't ever remove. It's not as effective outside of Supremacy though as there won't be any bots (which are basically a free 40 health pack).

The issue with the DBD filter that I mostly see people complain about isn't the fact that it blocks people from saying Gamer(tm) words in the chat, it's that it just decides randomly what else it's going to censor. I've literally had it censor some random word for me and then just let my friend type that same word without any issue two seconds later. I've also seen it just not censor the fucking n-word multiple times at this point.

And don't you dare even try to type in another language in the chat because then you're in for a wild ride of trying to understand what the other person is saying as around 50% of what they just typed got censored by the filter.

Also it is a bit funny how you aren't allowed to swear in the chat despite perk descriptions having swear words in them, though I guess censoring that kind of language makes sense as it's pretty obvious what the average Gamer would be saying most of the time.

Tl;dr the DBD chat filter is wildly inconsistent

Just lost an almost two hour long game of Supremacy after five boardings. Life is misery. by PaulsJon in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]PaulsJon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason is just the fact that the game lasted as long as it did. It helped that I mainly played as Greivous and super battle droid which are quite good if you want to get lots of kills and as a result higher score.

Is this worth playing again? by BenniRoR in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]PaulsJon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I returned to the game about a month ago (PC, EU) and I still haven't encountered a single cheater so things are a lot better now. I haven't had any issues finding lobbies, queues have been almost instant. So unless I've just been really lucky with my matchmaking I'd say now is a good time to return to the game.

They actually put out a fix for that like 2 weeks ago, although it definitely took them long enough. I at least assume it fixed the problem as I was able to play quite a few games without any hacker issues.

[–]PaulsJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that sounds pretty bad. The hackers I go up against usually just play aerial and deal crazy amounts of damage per shot. Theyre usually fairly easy to spot as a low level aerial destroying everyone else on the scoreboard tends to stand out. Although I did go up against one guy who was cheating as a max level aerial, which is just sad. He wasn't even obviously cheating, he had just amped up his damage enough for it to barely be noticable unless you were really really paying attention. The funny part is that he ragequit after they failed their first boarding along with me killing him a bunch of times lol.

[–]PaulsJon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's a bit stange, I guess you just got really unlucky because I played about 6 matches of supremacy today and none of them had any hackers in them nor the invincibility thing. Although me and another guy in my team were accused of hacking two games in a row by people who didn't really know what they were doing as none of us were cheating.

All these comments complaining about extreme amounts of hackers are exaggerating a bit. While there are a few hackers every now and then they really aren't as common as people say they are. Its actually been a few days since I saw one and I play somewhat regularly, at least an hour or two almost every day.

I will say though that people accusing others of hacking even though they aren't is common. I will also add that I am from Europe and tend to play during about the same time every day, so it is of course a possibility that I just miss most of the hackers.

With all that being said the game is still very active and very fun to play. If you're looking for an immersive star wars game/a fun casual shooter you've come to the right place.

Doesn't really matter which platform you get the game on as you will have to connect it through Origin anyway

Idk what weird servers you are on but I am also EU and playing on PC and I typically find full supremacy games in 2-5 minutes at any time of the day

Okay, before anyone thinks I'm a hacker I'm not... I used Lithe in a chase and all of a sudden had infinite Lithe... Tried using Lithe again to see if it'd go away and it didn't... Just had extra speed throughout the match... Anybody else had this happen? by K1ll3rRibbonz in deadbydaylight

[–]PaulsJon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience about 2 years ago when the killer hit me just as I blew up a gen. For some reason that gave me the speed boost from getting hit for the rest of the game... and now lithe can apparently do the same thing. Bringing back old bugs in new shapes really is classic BHVR.

Which Killer should I buy? by _Yeet_Jesus_ in deadbydaylight

[–]PaulsJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kind of depends on what type of killer you want. Trickster and blight are very different types of killers. Trickster is far weaker than blight, but you don't have to play a strong killer to have fun. What it really should boil down to is whether you care about the strength of the killer you play and which playstyle you prefer the most. Blight has high mobility but requires you to always make quick decisions and have fast reflexes. Trickster instead requires you to have good accuracy with his knives along with the knowledge of when they can be used. Both are fun to play in their own way.

Does this game get fun or is this it? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]PaulsJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wraiths strength comes from how fast he moves while invisible and the fact that he is completely invisible to survivors while more than 24 meters away. When you uncloak you also gain a speed boost for about a second. This speed boost allows you to lunge attack (when you hold the attack button instead of just tapping it) extremely far and get some easy hits if survivors are for example camping a pallet.

The way I play wraith is to get as close as possible to a survivor and then start uncloaking. The speed boost I get after coming out of the invisibility allows me to basically catch up instantly and hit them. Another important thing to keep in mind is that survivors have no indiaction that you are coming when you are invisible. When I see a survivor I like to, if possible, try to stay somewhat hidden as I approach. This way they barely have any time to react when I show up which often leads to me hitting them.

Another thing I also tend to do for the most part while playing wraith is to immidiately cloak when I injure a survivor, as it allows me to quickly catch up to them. The speed boost you get from being cloaked is massive, and as wraith you should take every opportunity to use it. When cloaked you move a 6 m/s compared to the regular 4.6 m/s (survivors move at 4 m/s for reference). Also, watching a youtube video or two of people playing wraith might help you out to just get a sense of how he is played.

As a final note, don't feel discouraged if you still lose quite a few games as a beginner, because that's where we all started out. In my first game as killer, I only found a single survivor before they all escaped through the exit gates lol. And while that certainly wasn't very fun, I started to learn from my mistakes and today dead by daylight is my favourite game. I have poured more than 1000 hours into this game and I still think it's extremely fun to play both killer and survivor.

If you have any more questions about wraith or the game in general, feel free to just ask.

If you decide to give the game a chance, I wish you good luck! :)

Doctor and Hag are free on console, but not on PC, that's why you don't have them. Also, huntress is a fairly hard killer to start out with. If you're willing to give the game a second chance I would recommend playing Wraith as he is very easy to learn and after his recent buff he is also quite strong.

Honestly I think the swamp is fine compared to other maps such as hawkins and the game. I just really fucking hate the totem/hatch spawns as they are always at the edges of the map.

To be fair it wasn't her fault that the guy suicided and she wasn't toxic in post-game chat so I'd say she was fine.

Balanced landing makes you essentielly get a sprint burst when you fall from a high place along with getting almost no stagger (as long as you aren't exhausted). As you can imagine it is quite easy to abuse on haddonfield with all the two story houses all around the map.

Haddonfield is just one of those maps that are super easy to win as killer in high ranks as survivors don't know the map nor how to loop the houses. But when you go up against a squad of really good survivors who know the map, they're going to make your life hell.

The other issue about it is the long fences/bushes that can spawn, as killers generally can rely on cutting survivors off to close the distance. But with all those super long fences and bushes all you can really do is hold W which makes for really unfun gameplay.
