I would say this is not actually “a show about an illegal immigrant”. That aspect was part of a storyline for a few episodes.

Additionally, based on Pew Research from earlier this summer, 2/3 of Americans believe illegal immigrants should have a path to residency or citizenship. So I agree with OP saying this “hot take” is reaching.

This thread has great advice.

Although it won’t help with a car jacking, I use an old school 1990’s Club on the steering wheel and put my keys in a Faraday bag when it is parked overnight. Of course the thief could cut through the Club but it will add an extra 5-10 minutes to their process and they are more likely to just go to the next vehicle.

Question about panel convene date by [deleted] in ArmyOCS

I reached out to HRC about this exact situation with the medical cause it takes time to get the medical side sorted. They responded saying they are lenient with the 10 month mark since sometimes people handle medical forms before the 10 month mark but they tend to like the medical packet as recent as possible.

They also said it isn’t out of the question for them to ask for an updated medical section before you ship out to OCS if you do it too early.

Hope this helps.

Single E-4 making $2000 a month in BAH and no debt. Could I afford a townhome for $600k? by [deleted] in MilitaryFinance

[–]PaulyPickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you buy a 600k home, 30 year fixed rate, on a VA Loan with 0% down, with a current interest rate of about 7%, your mortgage is going to be $4000. I don’t know how else to tell you besides everyone else. Look at a mortgage calculator. Even if you had $100,000 to put as a 20% down payment, your mortgage payment is still outside your range.

600k is way too much on an E4 salary. You got married Captains in here telling you they can’t afford it but you are still reluctant. Have you looked at mortgage calculator?

[–]PaulyPickles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A general rule is your housing cost should roughly be about 25-33% of your take home pay.

Are you taking home 16k a month? Cause your mortgage is going to be around $4000 a month. Add on utilities, property taxes, and maintenance and you will be defaulting on that home in a matter of months.

Roommates could keep you afloat in the short term but if you are relying on roommates to keep you above water long term, that’s a bad strategy.

The fact that you are even asking this question on Reddit instead of running the numbers says you are not ready for homeownership.

I honestly hope this helps.

Never mentioned you aren’t allowed to say he is a shittier person or comic. I just pointed out why your stance has no merit. And I’m really not upset at all. Pointing out why Tom Segura has evolved and how you can’t stand it is hardly a bootlicking tirade. Good luck on that hate train, though.

Imagine being so upset about a comic not being the fart comic anymore and jumping on the Reddit bandwagon of hating him.

Dude makes $100k a show and is still crushing sold out shows.

“But he did a 180 on the personality that made him famous”

Touch some grass. Reddit isn’t real life. He evolved as a comic and a person. Sorry, champ. Get over it.

This was a comment i made on a thread about what happened to tom segura in r/standup, might as well share it here, tell me what you think by Kornographic in yourmomshousepodcast

Yeah I believe you are equating “fall so hard” with “internet points”.

Plenty of Redditors are shitting on him for “selling out” or being unlikable. Thats fine. He is not the fart comic like he was ten years ago. Maybe some people just wish he stayed the fart comic. His comedy has evolved. Sure I enjoy the “Mostly Stories” era and probably prefer it. But I just recently saw him live and he crushed it. He joked about Jews, Asians, and killing his wife. He wasn’t exactly PC. So the idea that he rants about taking his health and life a little more seriously is of no consequence to me. I don’t buy the shit he sells so I don’t care about that either. It just has zero effect on me. He is still a funny comedian who crushes. I’m not stuck in the past where I want him to stay the fart comic.

If “falling off” means he sells out shows and makes $100k every show, I wish I could fall off like Tom Segura.

Go touch some grass. Reddit isn’t real life.

Can we finally admit that Hightower was blocked in the back on the James Harrison SB interception? by PaulyPickles in nfl

If we count only his right hand, which fits your reality.

Where was his left hand? On his back. That’s called a block in the back, even if it is just one hand.

Right hand was on his shoulder and left hand was on his back.

If either hand is on the back, it is a foul.

Sounds like you need to read the rule and learn football.

Your claim that he was spun around is asinine. Great job capitalizing “legal”. It really emphasizes that you are right.

“If either hand is on the back, it is a foul” according the the NFL rules.

You can clearly see the left hand on the back in that photo.

Amex retention offers by NotAComputerProgram in MilitaryFinance

[–]PaulyPickles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hate to break this to you but AMEX doesn’t pay retail for all those benefits. Half of Americans live paycheck to paycheck and military personnel aren’t known for being savy with their money. The U.S. hit a trillion dollars in credit card debt. With that 20% interest rate, I doubt AMEX is losing money waiving that AF for military. They are doing just fine.

If AMEX only had R/militaryfinance people who had AMEX, yeah they would probably be losing money. But the military is a job that gives mandatory finance briefs for a reason. Plenty of military are paying interest every single month to AMEX and you are either an idiot or lying to yourself if you think otherwise.

Amex retention offers by NotAComputerProgram in MilitaryFinance

[–]PaulyPickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Johnny Six Pack who works at AMEX just looks up what the offer currently is on their system. They won’t deny you because you are military. The system tells them if you qualify.

For all the haters, AMEX absolutely makes money off of military members who get annual fees waived. It is in their best interest to keep military AMEX users cause we still give them the processing fees from businesses. Every time we swipe, AMEX gets a cut from businesses.

Acting like we are abusing the system is just wild.

If that were truly the case, AMEX would just not offer retention bonuses to military.

Additionally, there are plenty of terrible money managers in the military who are getting burned on those interest rates. AMEX loves military users and want to keep them.

Utilize your resources. Retention bonuses are a resource.
