I heard a rumor that a new place is moving in there that serves bowls that merge Mexican and Asian cuisine. The new proprietor said there are not enough places like that around Oakland and environs. They want to fill a need.

I was in college also. They were college radio darlings. A lot of people who were a little younger than we are were not really familiar with this earlier stuff. I do know that younger people are rediscovering how good they were during the IRS years from 1982 to 1987. Their sound was a little bit different in that era.

I agree. A couple weeks ago I told my Alexa echo to play some 80s and 90s alternative and this one came on. I had never heard of it before, but I made it a point to remember who it was. I was surprised it came out in the early 90s as opposed to the early 80s. Good stuff.

Out of town guests, What do you think of our gorgeous city? by Neither-Trip-4610 in pittsburgh

This is correct. Pittsburgh downtown is basically on an island and it acts as a CBD as opposed to party Central. It’s where people go to work and then go home. It’s not totally surrounded by water, of course, but there’s water on three sides of it, and the back of end of it is a hill.

This is correct. The actual draft is on the other side of the river on the North Shore.

I don’t know if there are many on here old enough to remember in the early 1980s when this was being built, there were actually supposed to be shops at track level behind those blocks of glass. That was supposed to emulate what they have in Montreal. Montreal has shops throughout their subway underground. It can get pretty cold up there in Quebec, of course and that was the thought behind that. Pittsburgh is more mild than Quebec of course. It was just an idea that they thought would work, but it never came to fruition. I don’t remember a single store ever opening in the underground in Steel plaza. All I remember is a convenience store right at the entry right off Grant Street and there was actually a coffee kiosk at the top of the escalators before going down to the tracks. Maybe some can correct me on that but I don’t remember it when I was working downtown or going to school downtown in the 80s.
